That depends on your system specs, and what you prefer. Mirrors and shadows are heavy on the system, but hard to be without imo.. I have track detail on medium, track textures medium, car textures high, shader quality medium and car shadows on, and shadows on low. Everything else off, or on their lowest settings. Edit: Start up multiplier also have a big impact. Both on the performance, but also the quality in VR if you have the power to choose a high multiplier. (-vr, -vr 1.2, -vr 1.8, -vr 2.5 etc) You probably also want to lower the amount of AI cars compared to what you race against on a single screen. Or lower the amount of visible cars in the options.
Yeah, i've got a 1080GTX with i5-4690K and its pretty much unplayable right now. I'm running 2.0 with everything but track, car and surface on low. Those three are on medium. 12 cars visible. split shadows. 10 shadow maps. I can barely get 45FPS. I don't think there's a way to turn off hyper threading on my machine either. really frustrating.
Tried that. No difference, even if i set it up on RRE game specific settings. No matter what i do, my 1080 never goes above ~60%GPU usage and ~60%CPU usage. There's clearly something wrong with the VR implementation. I don't have these issues on AC or iRacing. I even ran the vr at "-vr 3.0" and it still never got above 60%. ASW is kicking in to keep things smooth, but i'm leaving a ton of power on the table.
I have opted out of the Steam VR Beta but No matter what i do i cant get Oculus Rift to work in VR with R3E... One Eye is always out of Sync... Should i Delete the Game and Re Download it??? or is there a file i can delete then let R3E auto update to fix the problem???
Going out on a limb here but have you tried checking the cable is seated properly in the GFX card? It would be the first thing i'd check anyway.
its only with R3E that the problem is happening Pcars, Dirt Rally and Oculus home work just fine....i have done and checked everything i can think about...I deleted my graphics config file, deleted and re downloaded the game, Checked Steam and Oculus for updates and no matter what one of the Oculus eyes is always out of sync with R3E.... very weird because i know that steam VR is not working with R3E according to the forum post but some people are reporting that they are able to use VR/Oculus rift just fine No Problems.
Steam VR is working with R3E - but not the Beta-Version of it. So if you opt-in to the Beta-Test of SteamVR (you can check that in the SteamVR-Settings) you should opt out. Here a little "how to" - in the "note" you'll find the setting that is needed to opt out.: https://www.vive.com/us/support/category_howto/839451.html
I only use the DK2 and the quality was like ok to me, but now after the patch it all looks more clear, more crisp... I don't know exactly to describe it, but the overall graphics quality has raised significantly, for my impression. I have changed nothing within the graphics settings... it's amazing. Is it just me or has someone else experienced this?
I am Sooo annoyed i just can Not Get My Oculus Rift to work with R3E!!! Are ther other things i can try other than opting out of Steam VR Beta....I re-installed Game and Oculus FW. Im using I5 6600k/ EVGA 1070
Totally delete SteamVR Beta from your system via Steam. Do not simply just untick the Beta opt-in as hooks are possibly left behind Then go into your steamapps folder and delete the steamvr folders. Reboot your PC. Then download SteamVR again - ensure beta is not checked. Make sure you have added the vr parameter correctly. Rift cv1 works using OpenVR via SteamVR. Still having probs let us know your full system specs.

It worked Thank you for this information!!! I have been trying to get it working for 5 days with No Luck...I was about to abandon the thought of R3E and VR and just wait for a VR patch until i read your post...it made sooo much sense that i had a great feeling that it would work and it did Thank you again for your help
VR looks fantastic lately. I don't know if its the placebo effect or not but man this morning in the Tatus everything was crystal clear! Best VR racing I have seen to this point. I am really pleased. Great work R3E BTW I was having those screen light flashes like a camera flash was going off sometimes and turning OFF light shafts DID fix it.
@Onaflyer than we we have the same placebo effect feeling... https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/oculus-rift-support.85/page-13#post-111386 For the white flashes... I have them too. I thought I turned light shafts off and it still occurs, but I think I will look that up again and check it once more.
Has anyone else been running pixel density quite high and noticed it must be now capped ? Prior to the patch I ran 2.7 and it was very nice with a sharp crisp image. Now it seems to be locked about 2.0 or lower as the image is blurrier at same settings. Regarding the strange shadow blob on track, I have bloom & light shafts off and it still randomly occurs whether shadow split is on or off has no effect.
@ Blanes, can't really say as I have not changed from -vr 2.0 in a couple of weeks. I am almost afraid to change anything because I was getting the shadow blob before that. Now everything looks great.
