A couple of months ago i made a replica of the BMW DTM M4 steering wheel. https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/bmw-dtm-m4-steering-wheel.7916/ Since the release of the Mclaren 650S GT3 in R3E, i have been playing with the idea to also make a replica of the Mclaren steering wheel. About 6 weeks ago i started from scratch, with just a screenshot taken in game: From there on i competely designed and build the wheel myself, trying to make it as authentic as possible. The biggest challenges were designing the handgrips and the recessed buttons. The wheel has a total of 5 different layers. It features 4 rotary encoders with pushbuttons, 2 toggle switches, 9 pushbuttons and magnetic shifters. The diameter is 295mm which makes it perfect for GT-racing. It fills the gap between the 270mm Fanatec Formula and the 315mm DTM rim. Here's the final result:
Just like the previous rim, this looks absolutely stunning. Makes me wish I could build stuff like that.
These look like custom made grips too ? Great work, stunning ... A new brand is about to be born: HoiHmanTecH wheels
i am watching your post right now, turn my head to the left, i watch to my g27...I'm going to listen some blues
Thanks guys, it took me over 100 hours to design and build this wheel. It was quite a challenge. I have no plans for making more or start selling them. It's a one off. It's unbelievable how immersive it is when the steering wheel you're holding exactly matches the one in the car you're driving. @Gopher04 i have another label writer (not sure which brand)
I wasn't planning this at first, but i'm now investigation the possibility of offering DIY build kits for the Mclaren 650S GT3 rim. This is the unfinished "beta unit" that will under go some extensive testing for the next couple of weeks before the final decision will be made. The V2 version has revised handgrips, new shifters and has been completely rebuild. It's has been running great on my accuforce for the last couple of weeks and we will test it further on my friends rig including an AccuForce and a Bodnar Simsteering v2.
That would be a total overkill to put on a T300 base but damn would i buy that thing. Ever thought about doing Custom orders? Like if i wanted the Rim from the Lamborghini Huracan for example? I have never seen anything like that, thats a market gap for sure.
Sorry, there are no plans for doing custom orders. I believe right now the Mclaren 650S GT3 wheel is pretty rare too.
