12:57 Nice editing when my game tabbed out to Windows :p.
What a horrible race that was for me. Punted T1 L1. Then that silly crash on Lap 2 and then game tabbed out. Jeeez :(

Sorry for your crash at turn 1, it was one of my teammates but knowing him, I am pretty sure it wasn't on purpose.

I hope it will be better for you on next races ;)

For the third round of the Esports WTCR OSCARO Online championship, the drivers are heading to Zandvoort. The Dutch track flows through the dunes and is widely regarded as one of the most enjoyable tracks to drive, but with a lot of sand on the track surface and gravel traps as runoff areas, any mistake can be costly.

The story of the week is that championship leader Jack Keithley, despite qualifying for server 1 again, is forced to miss the race due to personal commitments. Since the regulations include one drop score, he will still be in contention for the championship, but it puts him under huge pressure for the remainder of the season. Therefore, the Zandvoort round could be a golden opportunity for Bánki or Stange to close the gap, but they have to worry about new rivals.

The fastest driver in the pre-qualifying was a newcomer: Redoine Messaoud (Oscaro eSports by SDL / Comtoyou Audi). Despite lacking the experience of the other drivers on the grid, the Frenchman set the fastest time ahead of his teammate Kévin Leaune. Bence Bánki put his Honda Civic in 3rd and made it an Oscaro 1-2-3 on the timing, but German Audi drivers Tim Heinemann (Turn1) and Jan Stange (Impact Racing Team) were right behind. It was a strong showing for Audi, who are yet looking for their first win of the season. The top 24 drivers were separated by less than 4 tenths, showing the depth of quality on the Esports WTCR grid.

Round 3 of the Esports WTCR OSCARO brought the drivers to virtual Circuit Zandvoort, a flowing track with lots of elevation changes and dangerous gravel traps looming outside the tarmac. Redoine Messaoud (Oscaro eSports by SDL / Comtoyou Audi) set the fastest time in the pre-qualifying session leading up to the race, an impressive feat for a debutant.

In the qualifying session on race day, it was his teammate Kévin Leaune though, who took pole position. Alexander Dornieden (Veloce Esports / Comtoyou Audi) and Gergo Baldi (EDGE Esports / BRC Hyundai), two of the strongest performers last year, lined up behind him. As the lights went out, Leaune took the lead ahead of Dornieden and Baldi. The second EDGE Esports Hyundai of Kevin Siggy Rebernak was in 4th ahead of the Oscaro Audi of Gaetan Goarant, who had a brilliant start. Messaoud was in 6th early on, but got past Goarant quickly.
On lap 4, Leaune made a mistake as he braked on the grass for Scheivlak, the fastest corner of the track, which allowed Dornieden through. Baldi put Leaune under huge pressure in the following laps, while Messaoud also got past Rebernak. On lap 8, Messaoud tried to pass Baldi on the outside into the Audi S but went off into the gravel trap, re-entered the track in front of Goarant, was spun and re-entered the track again into the path of Pinczes, causing a lot of chaos in the field and putting an end to his own race. At the front, Dornieden and Leaune gapped the other cars, while Baldi got under immense pressure by his teammate Rebernak. The two drivers switched positions several times, which allowed Löhner to close up. The fight for 10th place was equally tight. Emre Cihan was running in 10th after Messaoud’s incident, but he got into a big battle with Márk Nándori. Honzik eventually got past both of them, while Cihan dropped back further after a collision with Daniel Cziranku. In the end, Alexander Dornieden secured his and Veloce Esports’ first win of the season, a strong comeback after a tough start of the year. Leaune was second ahead of the Hyundais of Baldi, Rebernak and Löhner. Bence Bánki (ACR Zakspeed) finished in 6th as the best Honda driver ahead of Gaetan Goarant, Florian Hasse in his VW, Jan Stange and Jaroslav Honzik.

With these results, Honzik and Stange, who already battled it out at the Nordschleife in the reverse grid race, found themselves on the front row. Honzik took the lead at the start, and Stange tried around the outside, but could not make it stick. The field formed a long train of cars, with overtakes difficult to achieve. On lap 4, Honzik went wide though coming out of the final corner, almost losing his car on the grass and allowing five cars through. Stange, Bánki and Hasse managed to pull a gap on the rest of the field, and for a moment it looked like Bánki was about to challenge Stange, but as tyrewear came into play, he got under pressure from Florian Hasse. On lap 11, Hasse passed Bánki in the first corner. He then closed the gap to Stange as well, but it wasn’t meant to be. In the end, Impact Racing Team driver Jan Stange secured his first win of the season ahead of Hasse and Bánki. Rebernak finished a strong 4th ahead of Goarant, while Honzik crossed the line in 6th. Löhner, Leaune, Baldi and Dornieden rounded out the top 10.

With these results, Bánki is now back in the lead of the championship, ahead of Jan Stange and Florian Hasse. Despite missing this round, Jack Keithley is still 4th overall and in a strong position when drop scores will be applied later on in the season.

In Server 2, it was the battle between the winners of the previous two races, Daniel Fredriksson and Felix Luding. While Fredriksson took pole in the Hyundai, the race win went to Luding in his Honda ahead of his rival. Attila Dencs, Slaven Stulic and Eric Sotgiu rounded out the top 5.

The next race will take place on next Sunday, on the Slovakiaring. Watch the stream replay of Zandvoort here:

Time for round 4 of the Esports WTCR OSCARO on RaceRoom – time for the Slovakiaring! The central European circuit may not be the most famous track in the world, but it offers a spectacular layout with several high-speed corners and a big crest in the first sector.
Local hero and championship leader Bence Bánki (Oscaro eSports by SDL / Honda) managed to top the time sheets, in front of his Oscaro teammate Redoine Messaoud (Audi) and Honda driver Nikodem Wisniewski, who is driving for the esports department of the Williams F1 team.

Bánki’s championship rivals had a tough time in the pre-qualifying. Florian Hasse came 17th in his Volkswagen, while Jan Stange, who is sitting in P2 in the championship, only finished in 20th place in his Audi. Jack Keithley is forced to miss the race again and will be facing a big task when he returns for round 5, while drivers such as Alexander Dornieden, Kévin Leaune and Gergo Baldi are getting more and more up to speed in the WTCR cars.
The fastest driver who chose Mat’o Homola’s Peugeot was Frenchman Eric Sotgiu in 10th place, while we will also see the debut of Alfa Romeo in the top division, in the hands of Elmar Kurbanov.

Once again, there will be a live stream, starting on Sunday, September 23rd, at 19:00 CEST (17:00 GMT). James Kirk and Robert Wiesenmüller will lead you through the event, and you can watch it on the FIA WTCR OSCARO Facebook page or on YouTube:

    Round 3 - Zandvoort

Stewards: Mike Bell / Robert Wiesenmüller

    Server 4

    Vigneron vs. Antunes
    Lap 6, Turn 1

Antunes passes Vigneron on the first corner, and on the exit, the two drivers make contact. Antunes is not squeezing Vigneron, they just have slightly different lines exiting the corner.

    Racing incident

    Vigneron vs. Mendes
    Lap 11, Turn 11

Mendes goes into the back of Vigneron and pushes him away from the apex, costing Vigneron 2 positions.

3 points, 1 strike, Tiago Mendes

    Server 3

Stewards decisions will be postponed since no replay is available. Van Daalen vs. Pereira Tang will be reviewed later.

    Server 2

    Balazsin vs. Stulic
    Lap 1, Turn 3

Stulic pushes Balazsin to take the position.

5 points, 1 strike, Slaven Stulic

    Balazsin vs. Oliveira
    Lap 1, Turn 12

Oliveira outbrakes himself and hits Balazsin, who doesn’t lose a position though.

    Warning, Vinny Oliveira

    Balazsin vs. Oliveira
    Lap 4, Turn 11

Balazsin brakes early, Oliveira goes up the inside while also trying to avoid Balazsin. They make small contact while Oliveira also gets a touch from an Audi behind him.

    Racing incident

    Balazsin vs. Oliveira
    Lap 12, Turn 1

Nagy turns in slightly into Balazsin, but absolutely nothing happens.

    Racing incident

    Delcros vs. Courtois
    Lap 12, Turn 8

Delcros comes out of the gravel and rejoins and gets hit by Courtois. The rejoin is not completely crazy, and the accident is also bigger because Courtois makes a mistake himself and runs wide, but Delcros still has to rejoin when no other cars are around. Because of the circumstances, Delcros does not pick up a strike.

    5 points, Damien Delcros

    Hall vs. Sabino
    Last lap, last corner

Hall is out of fuel towards the end of the race and his engine is cutting out. Sabino and Stevanovic are held up behind him, make contact with him in the last corner and Hall spins out, which causes a big accident which ends Halls race and spins Sabino.

In this situation, Hall has to move out of the way, since he causes a dangerous situation with a car that cannot run on racing speed anymore, trying to defend his position. The cars behind him have nowhere to go.

5 points, 1 strike, Damian Hall

    Server 1

    Pinczes vs. Messaoud
    R1, Lap 3, after Mutkurve

Messaoud spins himself by turning across Baldi and goes into the gravel. He rejoins into the side of Baldi, and gets hit by Goarant who has nowhere to go. Messaoud spins into a wall, waits a moment and then rejoins fully into upcoming traffic and spins Pinczes. He is stuck on the middle of the road and tries to get out of the way and rejoins again into a car, this time Ivanov who is trying to avoid him. Double penalty.

20 points, 2 strikes, Redoine Messaoud

    Dencs vs. Löhner
R2, Lap 1, end of the lap

Nandori touches the back of Cihan a few times, but it’s either really little or after a mistake by Cihan, and Nandori does not take advantage of it.

    Racing incident

    Total list of strikes:
    Redoine Messaoud – 2
    Christian Garcin – 2
    Damian Hall – 1
    Tiago Mendes – 1
    Nikodem Wisniewski – 1
    Marco Müller – 1
    Attila Dencs – 1
