Obviously this doesn't have anything to do with Fanatec, but Raceroom's inability to do more than 32 buttons on a single controller. I've stopped playing raceroom 5-6 weeks back as I got tired of using joy2key and having to set things up. I honestly find it embarrassing that Raceroom can't address this issue after what seems like 2 years, and the only sim I am aware of that is in this boat.. (iracing, rfactor2, AC, ACC all can use all the buttons and most of them can use the rotary encoders).. Sorry to be negative, but man that's a long time to not update the button limitations..
To be fair to Sector3, there were hardly any significant controllers that had such a requirement - it has taken a popular product like the new-generation Formula wheels from Fanatec to really get this stuff going. Other developers are also still working on implementing new features from our SDK. It takes time, but we have shown that we are committed to this kind of hardware (more products are in development that share these features), so it's absolutely worthwhile for developers to support this input. No, just logistical issues with shipping.
The guys over at Fanatec were good enough this week to send me everything you see below. I'm looking forwards to perfecting the Fanatec/RaceRoom experience!
As a DD1 user, I really like, what I see. So we can expect a better experience with Podium in the future? Do you think, there are tweaks possible?
to answer this question myself, the Formula E uses those 6 Paddles as well. (at 01:25 they explain everything)
This is good news. I recently returned to Raceroom after a bit of a break ( been playing a lot of ACC but got sucked back in to R3E by the F90 and open wheelers in general). I’d forgotten how great it is BUT I was disappointed that my Mclaren Fanatec wheel isn’t supported. Sounds like it will be soon? Is there any timing on that please?
@Jonathan Young When you say the McLaren rim isn't supported I presume you mean the rotary switches? Everything else works.
If the rim is ok. Lol. Just shipped the 3th wheel back to Fanatec. I’m glad they offered a refund. Was a nice wheel but 3 times problems with the shifter pedals.
The up position of the two red toggle switches aren't recognised since Fanatec updated their drivers a couple of months back. I have had to use the JoyToKey program to make use of them
Yes, I’m referring to the rotary encoders and the toggle switches. I’ve been playing ACC and have it set up nicely so it was a little annoying when I jumped back into Raceroom after a short absence and found out that my wheel wasn’t fully supported. It’s a relativey minor thing, for sure, but I get a bit OCD about things like that On a more positive note, I absolutely love the open wheelers in R3E. Tried the F3, the F2 and the F90 and they’re all quite wonderful. I’d genuinely forgotten how great Raceroom is..
I saw the update has dropped. From the change log it looks like this should fix the mapping problem. Good news!
When an AI is bumping me, the wheel gets an enormous heavy load. How can I reduce this somewhat? The normal FFB is fine but not when somebody is bumping me.
@DomB I have the McLaren rim. Is it possible that the 2 rotary switches are reacting differently? I assigned the TC to the left hand rotary and kept getting the TC setting popping up on the screen during the lap. I changed to the right hand rotary and it stopped. Just had a conversation with @Jonathan Young who has the same issue with the left hand side and have asked him to try the right hand.
The left and right multi-position switches seem to work the same for me, but perhaps there is a game related issue. We're looking into it.
Well I just got my McLaren rim back 2 days ago from Fanatec after the 2nd repair, so 3rd attempt and it worked fine for the first night but last night the up shift side started missing shifts! FFS! Talk about being pissed!
