I have struggled with AC. While I do think it's good, there just haven't really been anything that have made me want to play it. This have changed with finding the RSS 2019 Formula Hybrid and the 2018 Formula RSS 2 V6. These are fantastic and are some of the best open wheel cars available in sim racing.
Just installed CM, Custom Shaders and Sol.....hooning around LA Canyons at night in a Mustang, awesome.....and day/night races!!!!
I love AC for the GPL2 mod and the DRM mod. Both in VR are incredible immersiv. Did'nt try SOL and shaders patch so far, but will give it a try soon.
Yesterday and today I test-drove the Skip Barber. This is an outstanding car in AC's world, one of the very, very best cars I know for AC, both the default cars and a few mod cars. The ammout of fun the Skippy brings, borders the hilarious .I have no clue whether it is realistic in its physics and behavior or not, but take my word for it: its second name is spelled F - U - N . A wonderful attribution to the car park. I just came from taking my Skippy around Magione, I wanted to just kill some 20 minutes of time, and ended up with one and a half hour invested again. Like yesterday afternoon. And yesterday night again. I am filled with admiration and joy. If you have not already, try it. Its at RD.
Did I say Skip Barber? Chris Haye spent a video on them, and like I love them, so does he. A must-have mod, imo.
A new track mod is out, Nürburgring 1967. Actually it was released already in August. It features the old Nordschleife, Südschleife, Betonschleife, and mixed combinations. The project is a work in progress apparently, but already looks and drives very good, but you should expect some more upodates (currently there is the third release out). The experience is made interesting since they modelled the landscape by old photography, and so the place you believe to know by now, looks very differently, still you recognise places by the track's sequence of bends and turns. This is a conversion from rF, which then got improved for AC. Hosted at RD.

@pixeljetstream I think it will be. Some of the cars are already available, but have been reworked for this (free) pack. There's also lots of - mostly free, some pay (or donation) - very high quality classic tracks to run them on. Quote from the author: """The concept I'm aiming for is the 'Touring Car league' Not the highest tuned models ever raced, but the tuned down lower class types for great close racing dog fights. E.g. An Escort with 200 hp instead of the maxed tuned kunos 270 hp... Below you see the power and torque to weight ratio's of the modpack. (Car weight including driver of 75 kg, torque and power at the rearwheels."""
Good to see that this now 6+ years old sim still holds its ground due to modding and ancient tracks and cars being done. Its like I said from early on: ACC will not kill AC1, but both will live side by side.
After many failed attempts to get going with AC I did a full reinstall and added the shaders patch and sol, which is quite a job, I have to say I am mind blown by the day night cycle and general graphics. Even on my crappy sysyem it runs at a smooth 60fps on almost maxed settings. That first time you drive into the night and switch the lights on is just breathtaking. Im still not massively happy with the FFB but its Ok and I can learn to live with it. I can see myuselft putting lots of hours into this now.... One thing I cant get working is both smoke and sparks.....if I turn on particleFX in CSP it kills the smoke, so its one or the other at the moment....any tips?
One thing I can say about the FFB is at least with my T500, is that once your in game in the car open the FFB app on the right hand side of the screen and dial back the overall FFB per car. I find the best FFB for my set up it 65-75 %. The biggest issue for me with AC FFB is the lack of power rack assist. Most of the cars in AC have power steering of some sort and it's not simulated, so you get to much push back through the wheel. As for the sparks and smoke visit the discord forum there is a lot of info to be had. https://discordapp.com/channels/453595061788344330/453615474710675537
With Fonteney, there is another outstanding track from Fat-Alfie for download at RD. 25 km of winding county roads through a lovely french landscape. Read the description of Fat-Alfie on the download site at RD for more infos and his intention of ceating this. My day's work is set.
Already did 1350 km at Fonteny in all kinds of (classic) cars, since it appeared. It's an amazing track that needs your full attention when going fast and offers incredible details when 'cruising'. Above that it's very well optimised. Another Fat-Alfie's masterpiece...
Fonteny above is the most impressive long range public street track mod experiences that I know of, a masterpiece and amongst my top 10 mods for racing games of any kind. A must-have.
Hello, is it possible to drive trackday in vr? with the content manager of course. Race, practice is working but not the trackday?
How long will it take before we can see the Nordschleife like this in Raceroom? The ffb/physics in AC does not feel good any longer after the latest update of raceroom The AI in raceroom feels also much more human now even though it crashes quite often on the Nordschleife but in AC we can have atmosphere even with VR
I drive exclusively in VR since two years, and most of my AC driving is trackday. But a few tracks variations may not work with it, especially a few mods. Nordschleife however I drive only in trackday.
