Here's a good one from yesterday, both me in the black Z4 and the Falken Porsche were penalized for passing on a yellow! I actually didn't notice any car going off when I was driving, but then looking at the replay, that Audi R8 was about a second ahead of the 3 cars and crashed. My guess is that the car ahead of me somehow triggered a yellow flag and the Audi R8 was not in yellow flag state when we got past him...
yeah, I know what you mean. Maybe I was in the same race as I was in a 30min-race in Spa yesterday, in which a lot of penaltys were flying in - was a bit irritating ^^
A few moments ago I got a really weird penalty for overtaking over yellows in a multiplayer race (DTM 2016 @ Norisring). There was a 3 second gap between me and the car in front and another 3 seconds gap to the car following me, so when I got the penalty message I believed the game had messed up the messages and was showing messages for some other car, so I ended up disqualified from for not taking the drive-through.
But the first question is : did you overtake a car under yellow flag ? Have you seen someone in the pits or in the "bankings" (not sure I call them like that at Norisring )
No, only the car which was causing the yellow flag.. Actually, I found a stopped car hidden in the sand after turn one. Overtaking cars stopped outside the track and in the pits during a yellow flag also causes this penalties? If so, I agree with the opinion of some people in this thread, as it would make the system unusable.
Visual Flags. Thanks. This is what we need for serious (league) online racing. We will be implementing this in all our major championships after a test on Sunday, but as there are no penalties(aside from black flag) I can't see there being a problem. Complete Flags would be our ideal end game, but for you guys to program something to fit every possible scenario as regards yellow flags sounds one hell of a job. Its not just the programming at 'issue' though, a lot of sim racers I believe aren't used to/aware of how to react when under yellow flag which results in what are very probable avoidable penalties. This will take time for everyone to adapt. Keep up the good work though, the game keeps getting better and better
When the flags were announced I didnt even expect it to be with penalties included. Happy enough to see just see the flags well implemented So thanks for this adjustment and hopefully the penalties get sorted so online MP can benefit from this.
So far so good with the new patch. I've done 3 races with yellow flags enabled and survived all of them without a penalty, it's a clear improvement on the previous version where I couldn't do 2 races in a row without a drive-through!
Revisiting the thread after three years. Does anyone have recent experience with the full flag rules in multiplayer? How reliable it is with the penalties? Is it worth switching from visual only if we want to calm the field down a bit?
why removed the slowdown penalty with blue flags? I remember at first they were, what were the problems in the race
Drivers being up a lap were abusing it by not overtaking the car in front and therefore making them receive a penalty.
