    Hi all,

been playing this for more than a year with VR, never had an issue before.

went to launch it today, wont start, error exception code 0xC000005 comes up in a box.

it does this on 32bit or 64bit Steam VR modes.

if i launch in regular mode, it will start no issues. Obviously this is totally useless because i want to use VR.

i have 3 Steam accounts on 3 different computers, and all 3 are doing the same. 2 accounts have full content purchased, 1 is free content only.

i have tried verifying files, removing the files from my documents simbin, and tried restarting etc, no change.

why is this happening after an update of the game when it was fine before? Does anyone know how to fix it so i can use it again?

    thanks all :)

I wish I could suggest something to help. I've just checked & it is working ok in Oculus Rift CV1, so perhaps the update affected only the Pimax, or the issue might be on your system. Maybe another Pimax user can confirm?

This is not a Pimax issue, because it has always worked before and ive not used any other headset with this game.

it is also Steam VR, so the headset should not matter really.

Are any devs likely to take a look at this issue?

for me it helped to reinstall SteamVR. You also can try using SteamVR beta. Its more SteamVR related if as you say RR starts in normal mode.

Yeah cheers for the reply mate, i ended up fixing it, it was caused by fixed foveated rendering which was working fine before, but causes crashes now.

This got listed as resolved, but why??? By who? It was not me, and i would not consider it solved myself.

It is NOT resolved, because FFR never used to stop the game starting in VR, but now it does.

It will probably be fixed foveated rendering, make sure that is turned off for this game.

i found the answer on another forum for a different game, it seems to be a DX9 issue with FFR.

No worries mate, let me know how you go with it.

i just got my 8K X a few weeks ago, it is so damn sharp and clear. As much as i love the 5K+ and how great it was, this is a pretty good step up

In Pitool yes, you should be going to the games setting and setting each game up for the settings you want.

It is on the second tab, then down the left you have general, HMD, Game

    Turn Temporal AA to epic

turn advanced sharpen filter to OFF

Turn mirrors to low, and i use 80-100 meters range.

    Turn sharpening to 220-260

    pixel scale is 1.0

In Pitool i use 1.25, FFR conservative, normal FOV, paralell projections off, smart smoothing off.

in Steam VR settings aim for about 3200x2800 to 3400x3000 per eye, and it will look great.

    which video card?

Yes~it”s working when i Turn off foveated rendering.
    Thank you bro.
My GPU is RTX 3090 msi.
Tonight i will edit your setting on steam vr.
I think 8kx+3090 is the perfect kit.
