I see Daytona has 3 tracks available but the oval is listed as "unsupported". I can't find any explanation what that means. Does anyone know?
It means it's unsupported. You can drive it. But there are no oval specific rules, the AI aren't optimised for it, any issues with it will not be patched etc. It's there as a bonus, nothing more. raceroom does not have any oval cars and as far as I know there are no plans to add any. FRUS doesn't count either, it's a road course car.
The oval is a lot of fun despite not being supported. The AI is decent except they have a tendency to wander below the yellow lines before entering turn one and before turn three. Then they jump back up on the banking which would probably wreck them normally. A full field of GT3 Mustang and Camaro race cars is a blast and sounds wonderful.
I kinda hope we can at least get Indy Oval unsupported. Twin Ring's oval would be a big ask tbf, and idr if R3E's Monza has the oval, but Indy is pretty much modeled already
Lausitzring's oval is modelled too, but it's blocked with barriers and invisible walls. I don't know if it's fully properly surfaced (feels like tarmac anyway), but the 3D model is all there. Remove the walls and people can race there.
Its fully tarmaced...Except the wall between T2 and T3 you'd be able to drive it full when avoiding the tyre barriers Greetings
There's another wall before the last corner and the start-finish line, it goes all the way across the track from the wall to the armco and I couldn't find a place where you can pass it.
Or does it? I turned off track cut penalties and flags and did a race against AI. I was cutting to the oval parts (ovalT1 and ovalT2) each lap. The game was tracking my time, laps and final results like I was driving a legit route. Simply removing the walls won't make a proper layout, of course, but we're talking about an unsupported bonus feature.
