Too 'good' to not post it here ;)
Found in the regulations for the GT Masters competition hotlaps.
It is pretty sure nothing to care about. No response by any officials on Discord.

Yesterday, Anthony Monteil stated in the car wishlist thread:
we're currently more oriented towards DRM brands and models (1976-1980 era) and we defined a list of cars we want to add in the game. Some are already finished and it shouldn't be long before they're released.

That again is interesting: The Group 5 cars were allowed to run in 1977. So we got a safe year in which just the two divisions without Group 5's.
I'm thinking about Ford Escort, BMW 320i, the actual 935 (which tbh I don't really need), Lancia Beta Montecarlo, (Opel Kadett) and of course the VW Scirocco which is now almost safe to be included etc.

I would love to get actual 935, Fabcar is nice but it just doesen't have same appeal for me. I like both interior and exterior better in Porsche versions.

I've seen this in the rulebooks of other competitions, too. It's probably there to prevent any misunderstandings for drivers new to the game.

My worries are that the demand for 'classic tracks' in Raceroom will rise even more with more DRM cars. And we already have a lot classic cars-some of them received the last few years (FrX-90, Group C, Porsche 964 Cup and 934 alongside the Group 4 and Group 5 updates, DTM 1995 and DTM 92/Touring classics major update)
roughly 21% of the sim now consists of classic groups-you have to think about that.
Although I think that we have enough 'historic' tracks. Around half of the tracks in the game have a rich history and haven't changed too much layout wise

I agree, as much as I enjoy classic DTM, touring classics and the 964s, I can't say I have much excitement left for more classics (let's be honest, super touring will never happen).

I might be biased as a 90s child but Group 4, 5, C and classic open wheel tend to be sale buys for me whereas the modern series are day 1 buys.

Why exactly you are worried about it? We also have most of the well known modern tracks already in game, same goes to cars & classes. In other way, majority (79%) of content are modern. I personally think it's indeed the historic cars where R3E shines most, you simply won't find most those from any other current sim (mods doesen't count here). Especially with top quality physics we have with them.

Wouldnt mind a classic silverstone or hockenheim. The trackstyle siutes better for driving in these cars than modern lay-outs.

but when go through the tracks we have, in my mind, most have old layouts. just the surroundings are modern. I would say nearly half the tracks we have, have a classic layout, maybe a chicane was added here and there, like imola.

Would love to see more cars from that era, i found out today there even was a Lancia stratos grp 5., not in DRM, but le mans. One could dream... and talking LeMans.. oh boy this is the stuff we need

Another far stretch but who knows :D
Posted on tim heinemanns instagram story we can see his amg gt4 (with raceroom as a sponsor on it) on a virtual spa. No idea whether theyre just some promo shots they created on some computer program to show off his new livery or whether it may actually be a screenshot from the game

Edit: and while im at it maybe hockenheim gets an update?
Once you start it becomes more and more difficult not to interpret too much into these things :D

But you know, historic racing in the present is also a thing, GT Legends was also about the FIA GTC-TC championship (historic cars on current tracks). Now it is called Masters Historic Racing.

Is there a way to interpret it differently? I guess there is something about GT Masters championship round 3 that requires some changes on Hockenheim, but they can't do it before the Cupra round there. Updated track limits? Changes in curbs?

There always is, but then the question of how likely those other interpretations are arises ;) :D

Not saying i could think of one thats somewhat realistic but if i wanted to interpret it as "tomorrow elephants will come falling from the sky" thered be nothing that could stop me from doing so ;)

What will be changed to Hockenheim?!
    • There has been a tarmac change in Südkurve (Last turn) last winter
    • All Motodrom seats are now white
    • There is the Porsche Experience Center in Mobil1 Kehre
    • The dirt from where the Center now sits has been transferred to the Hairpin and between Mercedes and Dragstrip rolloff triangle
    • No changes to the Layout itself
    • The trees on the old circuit have grown more
    Anything else?

S3, if you ever decide to upgrade Zanvoort to the new F1 spec promise us you'll keep the current version available to drive. Call it 'Classic Grand Prix' or whatever.
