@heppsan - How are you finding the DimSim F320? I'm back looking at options for GT style rims again..
I'm liking it! Nice width and it's a bit thicker than many of my other wheels, the handles are of a rubbery foam but offer nice grip.
New wheel is ready to race. My version of a Lotus 107C/109 steering wheel. Based on a Momo Mod.11 in black suede, a saddler changed the color to red (Alcantara), because it's impossible to get a red suede Momo Mod.11 elsewhere. Carbon plate is done by myself, electronics are made with Arduino pro micro and Simhub. The 2 Led's are pieces of two 2.50€ chinese flashlights, right side is red for shifting and the left is blue for pit limiter. The hub with the magnetic paddels are made by Peter (PeterMakesThings on YT), thanks again Peter for your outstanding piece of 3d print! The Lotus badge on the center is custom made by BestStickers.net (great service!) and the button label are made by someone I found on ebay classified ads. Thats it. The wheel is 260mm in diameter, so perfect for any kind of open wheeler. Hardest thing was to get all the wires and arduino inside the hub, and made it look ok on the outside. It's perfectly ok for me, handles well and is a great steering wheel for the FR90 V8's or the 1993 F1 mod for AC. Pictures: Original wheel: Keep racing!
Nothing new to show, but a little WIP teaser... Very very basic ebay kit. Bad print quality, not compatible with Nextion display (I will fit one inside anyway...) Allready 100 problems fixed, and still another 100 to do. My first wheel with massiv LED's, Nextion display and a self printed single arm shifter. Still a long way to go...
Both sides are 3d printed in two parts. I have self-adhesive upholstered fake Alcantara. The grip gets covered with this stuff, and after that the very thin layer of Alcantara is torn off. What you have now is a half of a grip with 3mm padding on it. This gets wraped in italian goad suede in black. Did this for my AMG GT3 wheel before, works and feels great!
I wanted a standard round rim that sat a little under my 320mm OMP Superquadro, but didn't want to spend a fortune on a nice fancy one until I was sure I'd bother using it. I found the below on Amazon for ~£50, and while it was a perfect 300m in size, the material is pretty horrible - It's very hard to the touch for bare hands, and it offers next to no grip with gloves.. Based on something I saw elsewhere I took a punt on some cheap-ish bar tape and spent a couple of hours wrapping/epoxying the stuff into place. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but once I have the VR hat on, it feels lovely - Really chunky with a nice little grippy squish to it: I've been using it for several weeks now, and the tape is so far holding up nicely.
