Attention, fans of historic race cars!

We are excited to bring you the
    Volkswagen Scirocco Group 2

    • Year: 1977
    • 170 HP
    • 4 cylinder engine
    • 200 kp/h Top Speed
The Scirocco was one of Volkswagen's first successful race cars based on a production model.

Its success in the 70s convinced Volkswagen to become more involved in motorsports.
The 1.6 litre engine has plenty of grunt and sounds magnificent.
We recreated many historic liveries with meticulous attention to detail.
We are looking forward to share this historic gem with you in December!

Fantastic! A long time I owned a Scirocco '79 and I sometimes sneak in to FM7 just to drive the old Scirocco :)
Never thought I'd see it in RR. So happy!

Nice one. But i think you opened the box of pandora with this class (same as Gr. 4), so many other cars to play with. First, NSU (1300ccm) gr. 2 would be obvious. And BMW CSL and 2002, Ford Capri and Escord, also Fiat Abarth.

Not to forget the ill-fated big cat, the Jaguar XJ12C Broadspeed! :D

And with the Scirocco as basis, we could hope for the Audi 80 GTE also?

I'd like to address some special thanks to Viviane Bonnardel, five times French Hillclimb Champion in VHC class (2014 > 2018) and vice-champion in 2019.
Viviane is racing in a fully rebuild VW Scirocco Group 2 (build and tuned by her husband), and she generously allowed me to borrow her car to take our reference pictures and to record this magnificent engine sound you will hear in R3E.

Thank you Viviane, the R3E Scirocco is of course a tribute to your talent ;)

Here's two of the pictures taken during the reference shooting, at the Bagnols Hillclimb (French Hillclimb Championship) on 31 March 2019:

As you can see, her car is powered by an actual Muller Gr.2 engine that they found in Germany like the rest of the Scirocco Gr.2 parts:hearteyes:

And now, a few videos of the beast in action on track:

To stay in the subject, I'd like to share how my passion for this car started.

In April 1977, the french magazine "Echappement" published a complete test of the Scirocco Gr.2, which happened in the Paul ricard circuit during the 1st official test session of the Müller chassis.
I was buying this magazine each month but this article especially retained my attention. I found the car superb and it really represented the top of the german motorsport engineering for me.

They explained everything about the car behaviour and balance, and I couldn't imagine this article would become useful for
    my future job :D
I scanned the article and translated it for my collegues, so here it is for you aswell (english version in attached file below):

The passion grew quickly when one year later, I've been offered the 1:43 Solido die cast model of the car from the article !
    I couldn't stop racing it :D
    This is the one:
    https://www.carmodel.com/fr/solido/1059/1-43/volkswagen/scirocco-n-266-rally-gr-ii/100430

Two years later, the first Scirocco Gr2 started to race in some hillclimbs in France, and this time I could see them in real, which didn't improve my "Scirocco disease" at all :p

I hope you guys will enjoy this fantastic 70's touring car in R3E ;)
