I really don't think it matters. The sim racing community will just be glad to see what the studio is working on regardless of how early the content is or how much it will change. As @heppsan said, it's all good publicity. Everything you've shown has been well received.
Forgive me if it's already known, but Jay has indicated we will be getting Spa this week. http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/r3e-content-poll-for-the-rd-club.110999/#post-2091598
Great!Spa and soon ADAC GT 2015 and Formula...Thank God I managed to pour some vrp into my account.Edit Its official!https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/spa-francorchamps.2877/#post-31334
More good news in here, as I will update the front page accordingly... http://issuu.com/ebconpublishing/docs/simracer07_-_001-076 Page 55, but content references on page 57
Don't forget the 60's, oh please be GTL. Unbelievable how much new content is in the pipeline, Christmas will never be the same, far more concerned what S3 will bring me than the fat, bearded one! Only two more sleeps til Spa! Whoop, Whoop!!
For starters some tracks have been adaptive for a while, iracing made all that fuss and it was already here! With all S3 interviews and Dev streams I've found it more informative to read between the lines and from the rag interview I got excitement about future features in pipeline, entry level (f2p) cars are getting new physics plus new model/s added (as suggested on this very forum) and indeed Racerooms business model but Devs get to decide on features plus many more snippits of information I wasn't aware of like 5 open wheel classes (was expecting 2 at most), 60's teaser, 2 more WTCC tracks and back to the first point when someone says it's "going to be epic" I assure you, something EPIC is on the horizon.
The EPIC part was about the new physics, as they will be updated this year (new tire model and such).
iRacing's new system is live during a session, isn't it? Like rFactor2 has had for ages. Whilst R3E levels change between sessions, as I understand it. Makes little difference to me to be honest, especially as 1 hour races are the current limit.
I like this part: "In terms of features, we have big plans and what we have achieved as sector3 so far is just a mere fraction of what we have on the wish list."
My big takeaway was the introduction of a player ranking system, which I presume implies something like iRacing where it pairs drivers of similar skill levels in online races. Of course we need more people racing online for that to be effective, but that alone could get more people involved with multiplayer.
For that to work we need more than a lot, the player base needs to bee huge!! This hardly work even with iRacings online community.. Of all iRacing races I did I think I had one that was balanced good and even with the iratings.. .
I think with iRacing you have to get a bit higher in the rankings for the balancing to really work. At lower levels there's still a bunch of children/wreckers/punters/noobs so you don't get good balance until they've been weeded out. I agree that it would take a large number of people for it to really work well, but IMO it's still a step in the right direction for what could be a promising future. One of the biggest drawbacks to online racing (besides the wreckers and punters) is the vast discrepancies in skill/speed, and often times when players see that they're 2-5 seconds off the pace they just say "F it" and leave since there's no chance of them doing well. Eventually, maybe, hopefully, a player ranking system could help with solving that problem (to some extent, if we see the number of online racers grow by an order of magnitude). Seeing as no other sim outside of iRacing has this feature, this alone could attract a lot of new people to R3E (if it works as advertised). Well, let's hope, anyway.
