I'm sorry? WTCC dropped Macau for Qatar? However big the pile of cash they were offered was, that's no excuse for getting rid of one of the few iconic circuits on their calendar. I thought they understood that, with the Nurburgring round, but apparently not.
To correctly state the design direction, those previous GT3 cars were first generation which resembled there road going cars the most, basically road car with Wing, splitter and roll cage installed. Now these cars have been catered to a little more flexible rules of design along with the modern new road cars, comes a new breed of GT3.
The people running WTCC haven't got a clue. Spa, Suzuka and Salzburgring are off the calendar this year too. They could have had Macau, Spa, Salzburgring, Suzuka and Nurburgring Nordschleife all on the same calendar - an epic line-up - but alas, not to be. Instead we can look forward to the likes of Qatar and Thailand, both of which I expect to be underwhelming and poorly attended. I appreciate the WTCC has a marketing remit to take the series around the globe but seriously, many of these races are so poorly attended (e.g. Marrakech, Shanghai). Goldenport was one of the strangest races I've ever seen - literally nobody there.
Red Bull Racing Australia Signs "Gizzy" (Shane van Gisbergen) This will give them imo the three fastest drivers in V8sc. the question is; is this a good thing? I certainly hope the deal can help Shane (who was in a small one car team) win more races, but I think unless Holden racing team can step it up (which they showed they could at Adelaide) and Volvo can improve their consistency red bull racing is going to be an unstoppable force next year. (also i hope gizzy has a slightly different livery to the other to.) Roland Dane: ‘Why we signed Gizzy’
Mike Skeen in the CRP Racing/DeVilbiss Audi R8 LMS ultra - Pirelli World Challenge 2015 @ COTA Race 1 on board
I just watched the first WTCC race(s). It was a bit like being in one of those MP servers where everyone`s driving the same car with the same livery
Some news about the DTM... In the 2015 season, DTM will provide the spectators a new race format with two races of equal value per weekend, thus becoming even more attractive for both the crowds on site and the TV audience. All the race meetings will feature a championship round on Saturday and a second on Sunday, with full championship points being awarded for both races. On both days, the drivers will have to contest a 20-minute qualifying session that will be crucial for the grid positions for the following race. Nonetheless, there are differences between the Saturday and the Sunday races: the duration and the number of pit stops. On Saturday, the race will be over after 40 minutes plus a full lap, with tyre changes not being obligatory. This means that a driver may cover the full race distance on one set of tyres – but doing so will represent a special challenge. Meanwhile, the race duration on Sunday amounts to 60 minutes plus a full lap and a stop for a tyre change is mandatory for every driver. The new format will make its debut in the DTM season kick-off, from 30th April to 03rd May at Hockenheim. http://www.dtm.com/en/News/2015-DTM-New-race-formats-with-two-championship-rounds-per-weekend.html
