My main issue is knowing what all the different settings do/effect. I am talking about the car setups not FFB. Is anyone able to help me understand what does what?
You may also take a look at this guide. Though it's focused on AC, the explanations are quite detailed.
setting up a car is about a few things , first one is setting for you , do you want the car to understeer be neutral or oversteer which one suits you, and the car ; once you know this you know what direction to go in Andi
If you dont want to read much >> Good old GTR2 Guide http://xploresimracing.com/Series/XSR_SetupGuide.pdf
Thank you one and all. Now, hopefully, I will be able to start to understand which bit does what and then I guess it will be a lot of trial and error to get to where I am comfortable with the car. Cheers
From my personal view you have to find your driving style at first. Try to find if you like more understeer or oversteer in your cars. Anyway find your style, your preferences Then focus on setting the car up. Greetz
Just find this : RaceTrackEngineer (Designed by Boni, realized by Pirci) It's an Excel File. Just answer the various questions and the tool gives you the changes to the setup.
Can someone help me with setting up the gears? What's the approach of setting up gear ratios, what is final drive (and how to deal with it) and does it make any sense to change traction control? Thanx P.S. What are the numbers in brackets?
Usually gear ratios are fine the way they are but if you want to fiddle with them you have to check your 6th gear by seeing if you reach the Rev limit at the end of the longest straight just right before the braking point. Then you re-adjust the gears from 2nd to 4th. There might be some tricky turns where you feel a gear is struggling too much so you may want to shorten it to have better acceleration but it's always a compromise thing . Traction control gives you better stability but at speed expenses. Final drive Higher value: better acceleration / lower top speed Lower value: opposite Numbers in brackets are gear's teeth
Thank you for your reply! I'm not quite sure that numbers in brackets (for instance 3.355) are gears tooth. In this case they seem more like 31/39. What is higher/lower value in case of final drive? What is the VALUE I mean So if gear ratios are usually fine, what setups are the most crucial to start with?
From my experience, the gears are by default a tiny bit longer than they should be. That tweak alone makes a lot of difference.
http://www.setupfu.com/ Its not a free program but it works, and you can use it for any vehicle any sim.
except you dont have all of the relevant info to add to it at presentin r3e (tyre temps inner/centre/out and tyre pressures) Andi
