So what do you think are the strong and the weak points of R3E today? Me think Strong points : _ nice tracks (graphics) _ nice sounds _ good speed sensation _ good internet account manager _ good ffb/car's physic Weak points : _ robotic and stupid AI _ bad car's graphic, not on paar with PCars _ bad collisions management
Only thing I would say is weak IMO is the collisions management but it is geting better and better and damage % in get real... don't think it is more than 70-75% real but then no other race sim is either so it's not really an issue for me Part from that I think it is the best race sim there is and if they keep going in direction they are it's going to be even more awesome
Weak: Lack of Brands Hatch GP and other British tracks Lack of Sebring Lack of Adelaide and other Australian tracks Lack of V8 Supercars
Pros ----------------- -Good Car selection and racing series...DTM, ADAC, WTCC -Updating physics -Sounds -Business model -FFB -Leaderboards and competetions Cons -------------- -Basic race feature set....flags, data/telemetry(even though you can get it in other aps, it is still lacking in the game) -Business model -Cost -Number of players...although getting larger. -Need a few more tracks -Length of time for some things to get added...small dev squad. -The Experiences don't really add anything other than a rule set. Would like more immersion to feel I am in the series. -Some server instability on mp and always on DRM(good and bad) -Reflections
I agree, my only real disappointment is the contact reactions between the drivers car and the AI (haven't run RRE on-line). If I only lightly tap the car in front, I spin off rather violently every time, whilst the AI mostly continues on with only a small reaction. However, when the AI tap me, it's the opposite, I again spin off badly, the AI continues on almost unaffected. The rest of RRE is coming along nicely.
The Good - Car/track selection - Real racing series (DTM, ADAC, WTCC) - Physics - Sound - FFB - Portal/leaderboards - Custom championships The Bad - No assymetric setup (L/R) - Buggy AI - Weird collisions - No telemetry tool (PCars has Profiler) - Bugs The Ugly - The HUD is awfull (to big, overlapping other info, not movable) - Very annoying pit menu (to many buttons needed on wheel) - Cockpit graphics (competition looks better by quite a margin) - Awfull rearview mirrors (stretched graphics) - Brake lights are not very visible
Strong: Large range of highly detailed, top quality tracks Excellent selection of class-based vehicle content Good balance to the physics - natural, approachable yet demanding on the edge Crisp, natural-looking graphics - quite impressive considering the engine Unrivalled audio Good FFB Nice UI Portal feature Leaderboards Weak: Elements of the business model (expensive, convoluted, confusing to the newcomer, discounts that look like a sale, charging for liveries etc...) Lack of basic 'core' features (flag system, out lap/in lap/pitlane control, race distance by laps, tyre pressures etc...) Development of the core game cannot match the pace of new content (small team) Content a little too Germany-centric No Brands Hatch GP layout HUD needs a rethink (intrusive messages blocking rear view mirror, etc...) Dialling in the FFB can be a dark art (too many options) Funky collisions AI is hit or miss with each update Every race against the AI feels the same (lack of organic spins and crashes, very few DNFs due to failures)
I really enjoy R3E, most of all the fact, that it is based on real world series. This is great direction, and I'll continue support team with this model. Most of good things are already said, so I won't add value repeating them. But I'll mention couple of things why I still play pCars/rF2 once in a while, which show what is lacking (from what wasn't mentioned): R3E lacks: - Safety Car, Full Course Yellow - Day/Night transition (for endurance racing). The reason I learned Nordschleife not in R3E. - Real weather. It always sunny in R3E, which isn't bad thing, but, unrealistic
Strong: Graphics Large Content Very good FFB (once you got it set up properly ) Best sound Weak: Multiplayer without AI (i'm forced to play Project Cars, when i want to race against my 4 friends) no weather no flag rules (not really)
The good: the tracks the cars and classes the amount of available content the sound the "feeling" while driving the community this forum The negative points: missing AI in Multiplayer missing decent chat interface that works throughout the whole session missing weather missing flags intrusive messages on screen while racing pit menu is a PITA Server lobby needs a serious rework not enough people in MP ... and too many quiters quick chat buttons that don't work
R3E is stil in beta phase, no matter how many pros and cons we itemize, the devs have this answer. But, the best sound, great force feedback, real world racing series, makes me happy to drive in this racing experiences. Nonetheless I don't understand why R3E is slave of the online status. Why is denuded of statistic and pulse of racing environement. In this bussines are involved real people. In R3E there are no humanity. If some extraterrestial landed on Earth and take knowledge about racing experience from R3E, that will be a little mistake. In R3E before and after the race is cold, empty dark space. Where are the emotions? By the way, am I live to see R3E 1.0 ?
The Good...This Sim brings me great happiness The Bad...some cars with bad, to low steering wheel position in cockpit view
I love RRE so much for me is the best simracing on the market.. But... If I wanted to... I would like to sector 3 some more information like what projects they are working on (now at this moment) and when the releases from this projects... A little more information from sector 3 please.. We have a beautifull forum
Pretty much repeat what Sean and James said. But would like to emphasize the lack of dynamic track conditions and better tyre heat effect flatspotting etc
R3E is not the best racesim on the market for me as every sim i onw has their strong points and weaknesses. When i look at R3E from a "objective" standpoint (par on the devs focus and not comparing it to r2F or other sims i own), i find R3E highly enjoyable. The only thing i really(!!) miss is full flag support including safety car. If S3 does not have this one high on their list i would recommend to alter the game so AI do not have any collisions anymore OR become transparent so they have no effect on other cars. Racing more than one hour races against AI is becoming a pain because of the lack of flag system. I can handle being knocked out at 45 minutes in a one hour race, but it is too much when that happens at the one hour 45 minutes marker. When i think about weather, track dynamics, ala rF2 carsetup im wishing for a perfect racesim, which never will exist. So i take R3E as it is and form that point of view its good
Pros: -Good focused content -Terrific sound assets -Good visuals -Enjoyable driving experience -Friendly devs and community Cons: -Poor AI (current version) -Lack of proper flag system -Missing features for car setup -Lack of dynamic road, weather and day/night effects -Lack of proper triple screen support All in all, R3E has pretty solid foundation. First three of the cons are something that is expected to be corrected through developement. Dynamic effects are probably something that won't be with us at least in forseeable future, but i hope we get adjustable view ports somewhere soon™
love r3e,not time for any other sim for me pros -great graphics, cant even imagine what they could do with unreal 4 -really puts you in the drivers seat -stellar sounds make you smile a lot -physics/ffb the faster you go the harder it gets, best gt3 of all sims imo -collection of cars/tracks(tho still missing a lot) -awesome community, forum and devs that listen cons -producer monkey business -no night and weather -always online -rough mp servers(most importand imo) -physics, shilouettes and group5 whimped after update, also weird collision physics -no rules and car data -stingy setup options, even locked existing ones this game has come a long way, good to see player numbers increasing hope it gets the recognition it deserves
Only real weaknesses to me are ffb, which is nowhere near the sims like AC and AMS. It's not totally bad, otherwise I wouldn't even touch the game, but still something is missing. Also physics feels somewhat lacking, again comparing to those 2 sims mentioned, but not too bad. And that pet hate of mine, the business model. As to pros, I must say that r3e has improved as a sim quite a lot since the beginning. Edit. Forgot to add that I don't rank the sims I play, I enjoy them all for what they are.
Pros: Sound: simply incredible. The best of all sims. Cockpit position: The best of all sims. You can get the best adjustment without spoiling the speed sensitivity. FFB: Very solid force feedback. It really gives you the feeling of driving a racing car. Tracks: Very well designed. Cons: AI: Totally screwed after the last two updates AI: lacks speed at straights AI: Don´t challenge you, EVER. AI: Corners very slowly like my gramma going shopping for groceries. AI: Well, I just hate it so much right now.
