GTR 3 is coming on UE4, but not until 2018. RaceRoom is switching over to UE4 at some unannounced point in time before GTR 3 release.

    *AFTER* GTR3 release.

So yes it will happen, but not for a long time...

Time will tell. I still hope for an independent R3E game engine made by Sector 3 Studios.
    • iRacing has his own engine,
    • Project C.A.R.S. has his own engine,
    • rFactor has his own engine (used by R3E & AM),
    • Live for Speed has his own engine (a small three-person team!!!:eek::eek:), …

R3E doesn't use the rFactor engine. Its physics is a development of the rFactor physics engine but the rest (graphics, UI, netcode, Sound, AI etc) is Simbins/S3Ss.

They can write it in Pascal or Fortran for all I care - as long as it is awesome.
And while I'm showing my age, I hope they pre-plan using Jackson Structured Programming (JSP) methods. :)

The AI of course should be developed with LOGO so they run like turtles, giving me a chance to win a few races.

I don't see why. Surely they've analysed that a bespoke one would give less value than the off-the-shelf option, so this is the best way ahead. Wanting a unique one 'just because' doesn't make much sense to me.

iRacing has the most complicated and accurate physic simulation model ever.
PCars is the closest thing to driving a real car without leaving the house.
Rfactor is the most realistic tyre model ever developed, leading to an experience so real Nigel Mansell thought he was 25 again.
Live For Speed was developed by real drivers fed a diet of pure Marmite for 12 months and produced a racing simulators that dragged the Gods of Olympus down to the Mortal realms for the first time in two and a half millenia......

Rocket League devs read a book about physics once and didn't like it. They thought gravity was over-rated.

I may have got the definitions muddled, but I definitely expect the next great racing engine (program) will wash the marbles from the track better than Ariel, protect against plaque and flat spotting better than Colgate, and shave apexes closer than Gillette's new 7 bladed razor.

The model we have currently is good....but it's not quite a Carlsberg!

i think we get confused easily
iracing is still over 60% papyrus nascar 2003 code
Pcars is modified from older games etc wich is modifiedRF code
r3e and Am use modified code from RF

All of these are Games with aspects of simulation ; all are based on mathematical models which make assumptions sometimes
    nothing is perfect
    nothing is real
they just give different flavours, which we can like and learn to understand

Assembly or get out. C might be acceptable for low level interns and public relations, I mean are we simracing or are we playing pingpong? :D

I thought the entire thread was a joke seeing as how a thread about this very topic and what we know about it is 5 posts down from this as I type this message.

No, no, no. Totally different threads.
The first one was spreading the news that Sector3 Studio Head Christopher Speed had said that R3E would be migrating to Unreal engine.
This thread is asking the developers for confirmation that their boss wasn't talking out of his butt.
Perhaps you are not taking this seriously enough, Rodent.;)

And just in case anyone else is wondering; Yes I am being sarcastic this time too.

Edit: YAY! that's my 100th post. Still no Ban!:D

The problem with written sarcasm is that you have no body-language nor inflection to infuse it with.
I've lost count of the number of times I've mistakenly been taken seriously.
(Well....as serious as anyone is likely to take me)

    Day's not over yet. :D

I would think that if the Boss says it is going to happen, it is more than likely it will.

Not so sure about that, my ex boss (wife) said she was popping out for a pint of milk 15 years ago and still hasn't returned! Bloody tea's cold now!
