The CART / Champ Car times are over ... we have 2017. "… Type: 2.2-liter (134.25 cubic inches) V-6, turbocharged (single or twin) …" source: http://www.indycar.com/Fan-Info/INDYCAR-101/The-Car-Dallara/IndyCar-Series-Chassis-Specifications R3E has already included two nice oval tracks (EuroSpeedway and Indy), but they need some rework by the R3E track and license team.
Looks Awesome. Also looking forward to all the changes come this year. Would love to see the Aussie V8 Super cars, you guys would get them right I feel
2017 sucks compared to CART/Champ Car though. Bring on the Formula Raceroom US kicking rad classics of the 90's! Glad I stocked up on vRP, awesome stuff in the nearby future. Obligatory question though: will this be a pack like the formula junior/ FR 2 was or be packless like the pedestrian FR 3?
I thought they only had the 'road' configuration on R3E...? I hope I am wrong - that would be cool. Turning right is over-rated. I guess you are implying there is a licensing issue stopping us from going around in circles. If that is the case, I would be happy with a "fantasy" Oval.
Looking forward to it. Would be nice to have some oval tracks. And then maybe one day Stockcar Raceroom cars . And Formula Raceroom 1. With the almighty V10. Hopefully... Someday...
Awesome! Although I too would've been even more excited for late 90's CART, but this is a very welcome addition indeed. Modern Indycar still offers one of the best open wheel racing in the world. Indycar releases full races in their youtube channel, so those who are not familiar with Indy, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy1F61QvUUQXAXi2Voa_fUw And those who like to get into ovals, I suggest you watch the 2015 Auto Club race. It was a real nail biter and oval racing... No! Not just ovals, but pretty much any kind of racing, simply doesn't get any better than that. Unfortunately it was on the same day as a Nascar race just 50 km away in Sonoma, so there was around three people watching the race in the stands Auto Club 2015: Genreally Indy is currently one of those rare motorsports which admissions both on track and on TV are increasing. I think Road America had their biggest admission in Indy/CART history when it was added to the schedule again last year. For those who are missing the CART days, we at least soon get to see cars which look little bit more like the machines back in the day. For the 2018 season a spec aerokit will return and with it they remove the rear bumper pods and airbox and there are other modifications too. They should resemble something like this for the 2018 season:
Not really interested in this (good on road tracks but running open-wheelers on ovals is stupid imo) but if it helps open up a new market for R3E then this could be a shrewd addition to the content line-up.
