Porsche just announced they are leaving WEC in favour of formula e. Has been rumoured for awhile. Also announced is that Mercedes is leaving dtm.
Sad news, although they leaving LMP1 and not GTE as far as I know. Sadly LMP1 was pretty dead already since Audi left. While imho the only current class where true usable innovations were made. But at a very high price and almost no competition left because of that reason. I wouldn't be surprised if more simple hybrid technologies will re-appear in LMP2. And maybe then factory teams will re-enter which will divide LMP2 in a standard class and factory class. WEC is greater than LMP1 only, so it will adapt. But on the other hand, DTM in it's current form doesn't have a bright future with the loss of Mercedes. It should go back to the core format of late eighties and begin ninties. True hardcore touringcars. But I think it's already to late for that. But maybe we get the Porsche 919 Hybrid and DTM 2017 season as a relic of the soon to be past in RaceRoom
The DTM needs to get back to its roots to survive as it's a certainty that Audi and BMW will also be assessing their commitment to the series given Mercedes' decision. I'd like to see the DTM move away from being a high-tech (expensive), factory-run silhouette series and become something like the now departed Superstars V8 Series.
By the way, this Kremer Retro Porsche would be a nice to have ingame, if we are thinking about Multiclass Events...
