Can someone please explain how the whole track limit thing works? Doing the leaderboard challenge.. I follow the ghost of the fastest car in my class to see what line they are driving.. some of them go way far of track before entering or exiting corners to carry more speed of course.. however when I follow the ghost I get "invalid lap time due to leaving track". sooo how did they get their times to count then?
It's possible the developers tightened the track limits in the time between when the ghosts you're chasing originally put down their times and your challenging them.
Do you remember which track(s)? Some tracks have a lot of 'green paint' (don't know the technical term) beyond the curbs that's acceptable to use and it can look a bit weird when you see a car using every last millimetre available.
and like I said,, I follow their line but then my time gets invalidated.. so it does not make sense to me
I understand you, but which track? Sometimes it can be that you are some centimeters more off track than the ghost...
T1 and top of eau rouge at spa I've seen a ghost car go way over the white line. I wouldn't have been quicker anyway but does make the leaderboard challenge seem a bit pointless when it happens.
You also have to take into consideration your point of view. The race line is based on the center of your car. But if your in cockpit view, you are usually left or right of center depending on he make of the car. And if your pushing the track limits, that can make a difference.
the apex of turn 1 (first half of the chicane) is a bit too tight IMO - you get a cut penalty if you've got half your car on the apex curb
