I know they say not to play different racing sims back to back but after playing RR for a few hours yesterday, playing PCARS felt so off I was starting to question if a virus attacked my FFB setup Its been 24 hours since I played either game and I'm gonna see how PCARS feels again. I can't even describe the feeling. I tried AC and that felt fine but not as detailed but man PCARS was something else. Hope that RR's killer FFB doesn't permantly affect my ability to enjoys my other titles
Sorry, from experience, Pcars has never in its existance been on, there has always been something wrong or just plain unfathomable about it its always felt very off to me, i didnt get the hype, the drivabillity or anything, maybe just me, but hey, i think.......Lol, your fucked, welcome to Raceroom
I was just commenting in another post about how bad the default setups were in Pcars 1 lol. I didn't have my wheel at that point, but I tried Pcars 2, which was better, but none of the FFB settings felt quite right. I jumped into Assetto Corsa after driving in RaceRoom, and everything in AC instantly seems less immersive. I noticed that I was driving the other games to unlock cars and racing series I wanted to drive, where as RR keeps me coming back for the actual driving experience!
The truth is that since I tried RaceRoom I have not played any other simulator, including Assetto Corsa ... I just can not, Assetto I loved it but now I can not even play it 5 minutes in a row. I bought Project Cars 2 on launch day and I have not played for 2 hours and I was waiting for its release date for months ... As soon as RaceRoom brings the online ranking system, more circuits and the day / night cycle I think I will not even be interested in another simulator in life Sorry for English, Google
I exactly know what you mean - missing immersion, driving on the track just feels like riding a dead horse, you are not one with the simulated car, no more sweat, no more fear in AC after you have played RRRE just for some hours... Got my brother to try Raceroom last friday evening for 2 hours - but he still was convinced pCars2 is better. Well, he's single, perhaps he just likes carPorn instead of...
Bugs aside.....I really enjoy the TM and the base Immersive FFB setting in pcars. The Rally X content combined with the loose surface physics handles and feels very natural to me.....absolute blast!! PC1 physics and ffb was probably the worst I've ever felt. PC2, on the other hand, is a night and day difference, there's a lot of effects I feel that I don't many other titles. My Thrustmaster tx feels nice and firm, I find the ffb details much stronger than most sims. There's a few things I really enjoy about the ffb/physics in pc2.... 1. The feel of the tires initial bite under braking and the build-up of detail in grip before braking traction. 2. I can feel the suspension articulating over the undulations of the road surface and when you hit a bump you feel the front hit than the rear and which side it came from....a lot of sims just feel like your driving on a flat surface and when you hit a bump its just felt once but with minimal detail of which tire asides from curbs.....maybe some tweaking in the ffb could make things better? 3. Drifting on the loose surface feels amazing and very natural when compared to my rl experiences. Bought an ebrake and that enhances the experience even more 4. Live track when it works and the dynamic weather. Only other titles with this sort of tech is rf2 and iracing minus the weather. A lot of people overlooked this feature but I find it to be extremely important that a racing sim has this...weather, changing track temps combined with the dynamic track just adds that extra bit more realism as you have to adapt to the changes. 5. 600hz physics rate and the steam launch code -pthreads4 which allows the physics of each tire to be processed on its own core rather than cramming it all into 1 core like most titles. I feel the weakest part of pcars 2 atm is actually the graphics with objects popping up 5ft in front of you, shadows flickering and the terrible AA. Its a shame the game launched in the state it did again.....but IF they can sort there current issues it could possibly be one of the best all-around titles on the market.....time will tell as it's got a lot of issues to sort Don't get me wrong I love RR but its hard to overlook the fact its still missing a lot of features that Race 07 had, hopefully when RR switches over to the unreal engine it will take care of that. Kinda wish they had of pulled a Reiza....Remaster the Race 07 engine with DX11 add live track or rubbering with the current RR content, ffb and sound ....bam instant buy for me Edit: I forgot to mention I'm really excited for what GTR3 has to bring as I've been waiting for the release of that game for many yrs.
"Raceroom screwed up Project Cars for me" I don't think that you should put the blame on Raceroom because Slightly Mad Studios did that very well on their own
I'm still interested to buy PC someday since it's the only sim with a believable day-night cycle... and because Watkins Glen.
It is a pcars specific command, RR is single threaded so even if the switches were valid accross steam it would have no impact in RR. This is already happening or has at least once where the guy with issues was told his system was too old even tho it was well within minimum requirements. I initially saw this as a publicity stunt for RR in a very cynical way, even now i still have my doubts about it, but it is 2018 the year of GTR3 apparently, so who knows, time will tell.
Coming from Gran Turismo 5, I didn't find it "believable" at the time. The engine looked too dated to my taste.
I agree but only if you changed the FFB settings to these ones https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/setting-for-t300rs.4647/#post-62819 I cant tell what the tires are doing with the standard settings. The "steering rack" option seems to be the culprit. Some people prefer it high though.
Really? I kinda wanted to try PCars.. Because it has a career mode, which is something that really interests me.. Making custom championships just isn't crushing the quest for me :<
Pcars 2 could be a great all round product if they can get all the apects of the game to work together properly lol As for GTR3 and its progress....I haven't seen anything since the RD interview many months ago. But for those that believe its dead, apparently Paul Jeffery from Race Department got a quick glimpse and confirmed it's still in development and moving forward.....but i am sure he signed a NDA with Simbin as he wont release any details of where it's at other than its still a go
I just tried Project Cars 2 and it was a joke: I had to lift throttle to actually give throttle, and floor it to idle (reversed?!) I ran with 5 fps at most (in vr but still, raceroom VR is easily 90+) and the sound was awfull.. I'll just wait for this server maintenance to be done and dive straight back into raceroom.
