We showed you a couple of teaser images past week, and have been really impressed by your research work. Kudos to all of you who guessed it correctly! The new track coming to RaceRoom is: Zhuhai International Circuit The Zhuhai International Circuit was China's first permanent road circuit when it was built in 1996. The 4.3 km long FIA Grade II certified circuit was designed by the same group which created the Formula One circuit in Adelaide and was upgraded in 2004 by Tilke GmbH. It features 14 corners combining fast sweepers and slow hairpins that provide plenty of good overtaking opportunities. It hosted many races from series such as the FIA GT Championship, Endurance World Championship, A1 Grand Prix, GT Asia, Asian Le Mans Series & TCR Asia, making it the home of Chinese motorsport.
At first I wasn't interested in this track, but now I want to buy it. Looks like a cool, fun track and I want to support the devs.
We also get the Super GT, GT Asia? ... another hope to get Ferrari, Lamboghini and Aston Martin etc. finally in Raceroom
Always love new tracks, but just curious on your decision for this one. I don't think this track has been mentioned at all in the 'what track next' polls...was this 'low hanging fruit' and added because it was easier by already having much of the elements from a previous title?
I dont think the devs look at that wishlist thread and think, "hmm, a handful of people want (insert specific track here), so it's next in line." RR has their own publisher obligations, and has had a fair expansion in asia over the past year or two. While I dont know the exact reason, it could be as simple as an easy to obtain license to diversify the track list. Im not sure I know of any recent track released in RR that was just a simple port of a previous version released in a previous game. Every track has had an immense amount of work done on them. Personally, Im most fond of the "Group C Soon" that spans 3 yrs
I imagine you're right nate. Not to say any port is simple plug and play, especially not with the sparkle all the recent tracks have had, but I thought I remembered talk about some of those Swedish tracks being provided because they were 'port-derived'. And yes, Group C sooner than Soon™ please!!
This one wasn't really a low hanging fruit, the previous version of that track was in GTR2 and you might as well start from scratch rather than attempting a port. Not much you can save from there. The story of us doing Zhuhai is still interesting, though. Back when we were working on DTM 2014 season, there was quite a lot going on behind the curtains regarding a round of the championship happening in China. They had Gyangzhou on the calendar, then it got swapped to Zhuhai, then eventually it didn't happen. But during the time Zhuhai was pretty solid information, we had started working on it already. The track was 70% finished when we dropped it and put it in the freezer. So in a way, it was a sort of low hanging fruit, since we had it almost finished.
