Problem Game hangs when going to track

    After the last update 2018-05-08 - The game started to crash at the time of going to the track, log file below.

    Yes, we have some community members aswell, me included, experiencing multiple game crashes in pit and on track, for no obvious reasons. no hardware changes were done, no driver issues, and it occurs way more often (than the usual now and then crash of the game it always had) since the last update.

    It more or less became unplayable.

    Hi guys, sorry to hear you're experiencing these issues. In order to identify this we'd need to know your PC specs, so please list all your hardware, OS version and especially which input devices you have connected to your PC (wheels, gamepads, mice, keyboards etc.)

    Ps: With this configuration, the simulator was running normally (with some graphical limitations) bad from 2018-05-12 at night, started to brake when leaving the pits.

    New crash dump, same error in the middle of a multiplayer race - and I formatted the hard drives yesterday and reinstalled windows and raceroom. :-/ Hope you can fix or locate this issue otherwise I can just stop trying to play as it makes no sense anymore :-(

    That's my Problem too.

    It keeps crashing after a while on Track, when I push the Throttle,... It's randomly... sometimes I can drive 5 meters out of the Box, the other race I have set a gear and it crashes to Desktop.

    I have nothing changed on my System.

    Okay, so here 2 new dumps from today during training session for RRVLN 2.4h race - I was tilted because of this issue and searched through the whole sector3 forum.

    I found this:

    "We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the game.
    It looks like your video card is not compatible with the hardware acceleration we're using in our menus. There is an easy workaround for this which will let you start the game.

    · Right Click on the game in the steam library.
    · Click "Properties."
    · Click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..."
    · Enter -cefNoGPU -cefNoBlacklist in the text field.
    · Click Ok.
    · Start the game."

    And i thought - just try it - I was able to end the race with no crash issues - and 2.4h is quite a statement with nearly 30 multiplayer cars, given the recent crashes.

    So yeah, maybe this helps to other people. I will try it out the next days to see whether it really helped or it just was coincidence to last the race.

    @Trickle Regarding those startup parameters: -cefNoGPU has been disabled cause it's no longer needed, but -cefNoBlacklist still works. If you have Chrome installed or if you don't mind installing it, could you please check the following page in Chrome: about:gpu
    Because if -cefNoBlacklist does sth on your end that means your display driver has been blacklisted by chrome and it should show that in about:gpu.

    This leads me to the follow up questions, which driver version you're currently using and how you acquired it? Did Windows install it automatically or did you download it from nvidia yourself?

    Concerning the driver: Until now I was using the latest NVIDIA driver 397.64 for Win10 and 1070 graphics card, acquired by the offical nvidia page. All drivers, included mainboard, bios, ssd, etc. are up to date and Win10 is freshly installed.
    So far no issues with RaceRoom anymore. Maybe a coincidence, but apart from that I did not really change anything.
    I wanted to try out an older nvidia graphics driver today (388.43) but without the parameter - maybe this does the trick aswell.

    I am far from a technical guy but my crashing issue seems to have been resolved. I came across this suggestion as I was entering a service ticket for my issue. I only needed to do what is highlighted in red, however if that doesn't work the suggestion goes further. Hopefully this helps. Oh...I also disabled MSI...good luck.

    Game is crashing on Windows 10?

    Windows 10 will sometimes assign Windows Vista compatibility setting to either the game or to Steam.
    This causes a crash of the game related to in-game overlays.

    To resolve this issue:


    You need to make sure that no compatibility settings are applied to either Steam or RaceRoom executables.

    This can be done by running the compatibility tool on the Steam and RaceRoom executable:.
    • Go to the game's installation folder. By default it should be the following: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\raceroom racing experience\Game
    • Find the RRRE.exe file
    • Right-Click on it
    • In the menu that appears, click on "Troubleshoot compatibility"
    • A new window with a progress bar appears. When it is finished, click "Try recommended settings"
    • Click the "Test program" button
    • If the game works, click the "Next" button
    • On the final page, click "Save these settings for the program" and close the window once the changes are saved.
    • Go to the Steam’s installation folder. By default it should be the following: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ and repeat these steps.

    If this does not work, try setting compatibility settings to Windows XP Service Pack 3.

    If none of the above solves the issue, you may need to remove some values in the registry.

    NOTE: Editing the registry can cause severe issues if not done properly, and you should not do so unless you feel confident that you can handle it.

    • Hit start->run->regedit
    • Go to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
    • Look for an entry with your path to steam.exe
    • Delete that entry
    • If you dont find it there try HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
    • Repeat this process looking for an entry with your path to RRRE.exe

    I forgot to mention that the compatibility tool found an issue with the steam installation....so dont skip this step.

    • Go to the Steam’s installation folder. By default it should be the following: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ and repeat these steps.

    I had already done this procedure and in my case did not solve. The simulator opens normally, carries the car, the track, and I have access to the car setup, etc ... More lock in the moment of leaving the box

    After the last update (2018-05-30) the problem was solved, but I noticed a bug, when I leave the free practice for qualifying training, does not start the qualification jumping straight to the race, this in the DTM 2014 bad, I will do some tests here. At least it's giving to play. I was already disappointed.
