I tried a single player race in 'adaptive AI' mode. They started really slow and I had a 4 second lead after the first lap, so I thought this is where they will now start improving their pace, but no, I gained 4 seconds a lap on second place until the race finished. So is adaptive AI broken or what?

I would like to see the option to start the process with a skill setting of my choosing, and then that level being adjusted with every regular race being completed, no matter track, car or event.

I like the Adaptive AI to be in use in free practice mode as well, seems pointless having a practice mode where the AI is always so slow.

Do you train the adaptive AI on a per car or per group level? When I train them for example with the G5 Capri, do I have to train them again with another G5 car when I switch, or do they keep their training level for all G5 cars?

I did a full race weekend but I was still 5 seconds ahead for some reason, they just weren't improving. :(

With WTCC14 the adaptive AI got my number by the third race.

    Adaptive AI ADAC14 @ Zolder

Race 1 - Started P1 by choice, I was 9 seconds per faster in 1:31, just set consistent laps.
Race 2 - Started P1 by choice, they were right on the pace, so i dropped back and had a great race.

It works, so just treat Race 1 as a practice session.

EDIT: Scratch that, I don't think the AI had a great night sleep. I just run a race as above, 4secs a lap quicker.

Alright impatient pants... I'm gonna have to say... 'hard to say' I don't use it enough.

It seems a little temperamental to me. If it's per class per track, that's a lot of mucking around.

I think it's per class. As I said, when 'training' the WTCC cars I was unable to put the car on pole, nor win, by the third race, and this was on a track I hadn't run with these cars before. I guess the adaptive AI isn't perfect and will throw up some strange results but in general I think it works well. It must be a difficult thing to program.

Lol thanks. I'm sure I read somewhere that the devs had neglected the ai for some reason but I'm not sure if it was this game the article was talking about.

Adaptive AI do not adapt during a race. Instead, the result of a race is used to tweak the AI strength in preparation for the next one. The more races you run, the more accurate the adaptation should become.
