First of all thank you for the update, it's great. New cars are awesome. To the point... Cooldown lap Now, why? First, the AI you guys have created does give a great race, if one gets the difficulty dialed in, every corner every braking zone one every exit is exciting. AI does well with pitstops. After all this excitement you cross the finish line and BAM slight hiccup and it's all over, all that adrenaline still pumping in you and suddenly nothing, my PC might as well crash after crossing the line, that is how it feels. Why would the cool down lap be the greatest thing since sliced bread? -all the above, you get to wind down gradually -cruising around the track you can enjoy a few things like: -engine sound at lower RPM, climbing through the revs from low down, engine braking all the way down to low rpm. You guys have created best sounding racing game ever, let us enjoy it fully, not just the 3k rpm around the redline. -admire the great details of the trackside objects and the track itself -admire superb liveries of the cars -ai is already doing it, just let them lap you and see how they drive after the chequered flag -and finally, it's what real race drivers do
Agreed. In Pcars you have a cooldown lap and it works great. Mostly I do not finish this lap and enter the menu after a few corners but it gives me a moment to cool down indeed. So where can I sign up for this.
This is particularly bad in VR, I don't generally suffer from VR motion sickness but an instant stop is one of the few things that makes me feel sick. At the moment I have to remember close my eyes before crossing the line to avoid it. I also totally agree that it kills the immersion at the end of a race for what is otherwise, despite lacking some other features, the best and most immersive single player sim on the market.
Does anyone else have it where their wheel goes mental as you cross the finish line? It's the one reason I'm glad I don't have a DD, might break my hands....
Right, so how does one rattle a dev's cage to see what can be done with that. I dont think it should be that difficult to implement. AI already goes a lap round the track at a slower pace and goes to pits after finish. Just need to get rid of that screen popping up at the end and let us bring it up with esc key i guess. Now how do we lure the devs in? Redbull and whiskey maybee? Some doughnuts?
They've probably already seen this thread as they seem to visit quite often. Whether they will implement this or not is a different matter, and they probably wouldn't say anything until it was confirmed as part of the next patch or two anyway. I would guess that it depends on what "upper management" want to focus on rather than the devs too.
A cool down lap would be great, but honestly, I'd even be happy for something like AC, where you cross the line drive for a bit before it fades out and ends the session. It's the sudden stop that I don't like. Let me actually cross the finish line, that's the whole goal of the race....LOL
After 50 mins bumper to bumper League Race with DTM I'm actually happy when its over no matter how ....but yeah, that would be a nice addition to chill out cruisin', some donuts (on the tarmac and in the cockpit ) beckoning the audience, singin' "We are the Champions" and stuff
for me the immersion is lost before the checkered flag with ai. mean wtf has happened to the AI just barging ramming or just punting you off tracks, absolutely F-All awareness! Try zolder and the slow chicane I cant even finish a race there with AI. On top of that and the endless messing with ffb, finally has made me shelve Raceroom. Not a lot of time and better sims out there! enjoy your tyre pressures guys.
Loki-D we are going to be optimistic, I keep hoping that they will improve, meanwhile full with AC and ACC
