Monitor advice

Whats considered more important? based around a 27" monitor picture quality, 1440p or 144hz or both?

 

if I had to choose, I would go for 144 Hz

 

It depends on what gpu you have I suppose. 1440p takes quite a lot more power to run than 1080p for example. 144hz you will only get the best from it if you can run higher frame rates. Is this for a single or triple setup?

 

Single setup using a 1070..Or is 1080p with 144hz just as good?

 

For a 1070, I'd go 27" 1080p 144Hz as you will probably be able to do that many FPS.

 

I'd tend to agree with the above, go for framerate over resolution as a 27inch at 1080p looks pretty good anyway.....on bigger screens (32 and above) you need higher resolution or you start to see pixels.

 

I have a 34" ultrawide 1080p 144Hz gsyncgand cannot agree with the pixels.
Ok but I also have a smartphone with a 720p resolution (4.7") where others see also pixels. The fear of pixels :-D

 

Yeah its not the end of the world...its no minecraft thats for sure Even with a bit of pixelation tuning the picture either on the monitor or in gpu settings to reduce sharpness little helps. I use 32inch 1080p and while if I look for them I can see pixels, in normal racing use you don't see them at all... much more important stuff going on.....

Ok cheers for the reply's guys, not sure about 1080p@144hz if I will really see the difference to my 1080p@60hz but then again stepping upto 1440p I did think I would be pushing my luck with my PC specs now, getting a tad bit old.

 

1070 is still a decent card, one of our guys runs one with triple 24's at 5760x1080 and he doesn't drop below 60fps, maybe that's an option if you have the space.

So if 1440p@144hz takes alot more power, what about 2560x1080p@144hz is that not such a power user then? seems to be more choices at this size now days.

I am planning to buy a new monitor exclusively for racing. I was thinking of a 27" 16:9 one. (1080p as I wouldn't like to spend a fortune on graphic cards every other year)

It just popped up in my mind, what if I buy a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor instead? Is 21:9 more suitable for racing than 16:9? Or is it worth it?

 

Yes. I use a 34" 21:9 monitor. 32:9 would be even better (but expensive)

 

48:9 would be the best, would equal triple screen ratio then, 32:9 is good but it's still only 2 screens together.
