So, after almost no preparation I went into my first Server 1 event and it became the desaster it was also going to be against these aliens  3.6 seconds off pole means only P17 even on a 9 minutes lap, crazy competition here!

Race 1 was good until the NGK chicane, when a Cupra spun in front of me and I couldn't avoid him. Back to P27 I gained back some positions, but had a disconnect after lap 2, so also out for race 2. So not the results that could have been, but still happy to have been on server 1 at least for once now  Nordschleife is my absolute favourite track, but as mentioned, I just couldn't find the time to really prepare for this race. No setup (just a normal setup with higher rear wing), maybe 10 laps on the leaderboard and another 10 on the practice server means you are going nowhere here.

Congratulations to the winners! Hope to join eSports WTCR again at some point :grinning:

    Server 1 Race 1

Ommen vs. Maulana, Lap 1, Turn 5
Maulana drives very close to Ommen on the straight leading up to the hairpin and hits him in the braking zone. Ommen drops back to the end of the field. Ommen’s braking point is a bit early, which is a migitating factor. Maulana doesn’t have time to react in this case, but he should not drive so close to someone approaching a braking zone on the first lap.
Andika Rama Maulana - 10 points

Kunze vs. Garcia, Lap 1, Warsteiner Kurve
Kunze passes Garcia with contact in turn 11, leaving him little room. Garcia immediately also goes for a dive in turn 12, and pushes Kunze
Garcia deserves a penalty for this, especially considering that he keeps applying throttle after the contact. However, since Kunze also did a dive exactly one corner before (whilst not quite as bad), also pushing Garcia and leaving not enough space, this has to be factored into the accident as a whole.
We have seen this far too often this season, overly aggressive driving leads to even more aggressive driving from other drivers.
    Nestor Garcia - 20 points, 1 strike
    Julian Kunze, 10 points

Raechl vs. Garcia, Lap 1, NGK chicane
Garcia tries to enter the chicane side by side with Rächl, cannot hold the line and pushes Rächl wide. Rächl goes onto the grass and hits the kerb, losing places.
    Nestor Garcia - 20 points, 1 strike

    Server 1 Race 2

Raechl vs. Barrier, Lap 1, Hatzenbach
Barrier goes for a risky pass around the outside of Juhasz. He comes on the grass, and reenters the track, drifts wide and makes contact with Juhasz (who could have left a tiny bit more room, but Barrier is coming across). Barrier loses control and hits Raechl who is completely innocent.
    Valentin Barrier - 20 points, 1 strike

Hasse vs. Dornieden, Lap 3, Hairpin on GP loop
Hasse takes a defensive line into the hairpin and brakes a bit early. Dornieden tries to go for a switchback with a late braking manoevre, misjudges the switchback, hits Hasse and takes the position. Hasse’s braking point was early, but still reasonable considering the inside line, and Dornieden really didn’t have to make contact with Hasse here, or take advantage of it.
    Alexander Dornieden - 20 points, 1 strike

Banki vs. Löhner, Lap 3, Döttinger Höhe
Löhner changes the line on Döttinger Höhe to break the slipstream.
In the ruleset, it is clarified that excessive weaving is not allowed, however it was intended for different situations when a driver is coming up to take an overlap, while Löhner only changes his line once Banki is behind. As soon as Banki is with him, Löhner stays on his line.
Still, Löhner technically breaks the rules, which is why he receives a warning.
    Moritz Löhner - warning

    Server 2 Race 1

Cavillon vs. Langeveld, Lap 1, final chicane
Langeveld goes for an early braking point into the Hohenrainschikane and brakes relatively hard as well. Cavillon doesn’t anticipate it and has no chance to avoid.
This is a difficult situation, since Langeveld just takes a more careful line, which he has the right to do (he takes it every lap), but it’s still so early braking that Cavillon cannot necessarily be expected to know it.
    Racing incident

Knatz vs Mezes, Lap 1, final chicane
Knatz avoids the incident between Cavillion and Langeveld ahead in perfect fashion, slowing down when he sees yellow flags and the spinning Lynk. Mezes doesn’t react to the yellow flags, even lifts the brakes and completely hits Knatz.
    Gyula Mezes - 16 points, 2 strikes

    Server 2 Race 2

R Alves vs. Langeveld, Lap 1, Sector 2
Alves covers the inside against Langeveld, and then brakes extremely early. Langeveld has no chance to react. Compared to other cars, Alves’ braking point was really far too early which can be very dangerous.
    Warning - Rafael Alves

Cavillon vs. Lallave, Lap 2, Turn 1
Lallave changes line in the braking zone. Cavillon does a great job to avoid it. This type of line change can be very difficult
    Warning - Terence Lallave

Cavillon vs. Mezes, Lap 2, NGK chicane
Mezes gets a wheel onto the grass on the entrance of the chicane and hits Cavillon off.
Gyula Mezes, 8 points, 1 strike

Nemcek vs. Langeveld, Lap 3, Wehrseifen
Langeveld brakes far too late and hits David Nemcek off. Braking point was far too late from Langeveld.
Niels Langeveld, 16 points, 2 strikes

Cavillon vs. Rahir, Lap 3, Sector 3 starting at Karussell
Rahir is obviously slower than Cavillon, who tries to make an overtake. Rahir initially defends hard, but in the end, it is Cavillon who goes into the back of Rahir. Rahir tries to recover and taps the brakes, and Cavillon hits him again. It’s aggressive racing gone too far.
    Aenore Cavillon - 4 points

Saussey vs. R Alves, Lap 3, Karussell
Saussey is slow out of the carousel, he tries to go on the outside of Saussey but Saussey does not leave him enough room. Saussey spins himself on Alves’ car, creating a dangerous situation.
    Cyrille Saussey - warning

    Strikes list:
Nestor Garcia - 4 (Grid penalty Suzuka)
Slaven Stulic - 3 (Grid penalty solved)
Gyula Mezes - 3 (Grid penalty Suzuka)
    Krisztian Juhasz - 2
    Jack Keithley - 2
    Tim Jarschel - 2
    Attila Diner - 2
    Richard Dobsa - 2

It gets serious on the #RoadToMalaysia: Only the top 8 drivers of the championship will qualify for the final. With 4 races completed and drop scores applied, Polish driver Kuba Brzezinski (Williams Esports / CUPRA) leads the championship, 34 points ahead of Florian Hasse (EURONICS Gaming / CUPRA), but the fifth track on the calendar, the tricky Suzuka Circuit, will turn things on its head.

The big story of pre-qualifying is that Brzezinski has to miss this round. It’s not game over for him, as his worst previous event score will now count towards the championship, but as he didn’t finish in the top 10 at the Hungaroring, his championship lead has already disappeared before the Suzuka races are even started.

The fastest driver in the Japanese hotlap pre-qualifying was 2017 eSports WTCR champion Alexander Dornieden (Lynk & Co.). The German, who competes for the simracing team of Fernando Alonso, drove a 2m 09.483, beating out Gergo Baldi by less than a tenth. Reigning champion Bence Bánki (Honda / SDL eSports by Logitech G), who won last year in Suzuka, was 4th, hoping to finally secure his first win of the season, while Florian Hasse was 6th.

Niels Langeveld managed to get his best pre-qualifying result of the season, with P31, just missing out on server 1, but has to miss the race due to real racing commitments.

This Sunday, you can follow the action of the top server at 17:20 GMT / 19:20 CEST:

In addition, the Asia/Oceania qualifier has also launched, running on all 3 of the remaining tracks of the season. In the pre-qualifying session, Emre Cihan (Honda) from Turkey edged out the Indonesian Arwin Taruna and Lei Sabino from Macau, while the best Australian driver was Brodie Steen in 8th.

Aus/NZ will be live with the race:

If I have to vent a little bit, some drivers in server 3 doesn't seem to know the notion of risk. I got a kamikaze braking from a Lynk & Co driver on the first lap of the race 1 at the final chicane. If I didn't let the door a little open at this moment, I would have been surely wrecked

PS : Sorry for the crash I caused in race 2. It was a big driving mistake from me :(

    Server 1 Qualifying

    Dobsa vs. Juhasz, Qualifying
Juhasz passes cars on the outlap that are lining up at the end of qualifying. That is not forbidden, but he taps Frigotto into Casio Triangle and then uses chat.
Kristzian Juhász - warning (for chat usage)
Juhász’s behaviour on the first qualifying lap is not fair and would have been penalized, if it had been reported by Frigotto.

    Server 1 Race 1

Keithley vs. Jarschel, Lap 1, Turn 16
Keithley enters Casio triangle and is a bit slow on the apex (5kph slower than most other cars). Jarschel hits Keithley and spins him. It’s a bit unfortunate, but it’s still on the car behind to avoid contact, especially on first lap.
Tim Jarschel - 20 points, 1 strike (Grid penalty for Macau)

Kunze vs. Baldi, Lap 1, Turn 14 (Spoon)
Kunze goes a bit wide in Spoon, Baldi takes the inside, and passes Kunze. The gap was open and even though there is contact, Baldi’s line was acceptable and he has a clear overlap when Kunze turns in.
    Racing incident

Kunze vs. Banki, Lap 1, Turn 16
Kunze goes sideways out of 130R. It appears that he goes to the left, and Bánki commits going to the right, but then Kunze comes back to the right. Bánki breaks as soon as he sees Kunze going to the right, but taps him (releasing brakes at the contact). Kunze has to control his car again, brakes once he has got it straight, but it is too late and he goes off, avoiding all other cars. Really bad luck for Kunze but not Bánki’s fault.
    Racing incident

Kunze vs. Cavillon, Lap 6, Turn 11
Kunze is on the inside of Cavillon, but Cavillon turns in as if Kunze isn’t there, which sends Kunze into the gravel
    Aenore Cavillon - 20 points - 1 strike

Kunze vs. Frigotto, Laps 6 and 7
Kunze complains about lag from Frigotto. No lag is visible on the replay, but the contact is extremely strange. We will run with a lower ping limit in the next races.
Change of ping limit on server - no action against Frigotto

Stulic vs. Cavillon, Lap 3, Dunlop corner
Stulic leaves the door open, Cavillon goes into the gap. He has a clear overlap and keeps his inside line on the kerb, when Stulic turns into the corner, not leaving enough space for Cavillon. There is contact and Stulic goes off, but it’s not Cavillon’s fault.
    No action

Stulic vs. Cavillon, Lap 10, Turn 1
Stulic and Cavillon go side by side in turn 1. Stulic opens the steering while Cavillon is on the outside of him, pushing Cavillon towards to the kerb, while Cavillon turns to the right. Stulic goes off as a result.
Stulic really didn’t have to squeeze Cavillon, he would have gained the position. It’s also aggressive from Cavillon, he needed to put some lock on to stay on the track, but it also contributed to the incident.
    Warning - Aenore Cavillon
    Warning - Slaven Stulic

    Server 1 Race 2

Balazsin vs. Cavillon, Lap 1, Turn 1
Balazsin goes for a move on Cavillon and goes ahead of Cavillon into Turn 1. Cavillon sees him late, but has to know that he has a car on his inside. Cavillon takes the normal line into the corner, which spins Balazsin around.
    Aenore Cavillon - 20 points - 1 strike

Dobsa vs. Melnichuk, Lap 1, Turn 10
Melnichuk, who gets squeezed by Juhász, squeezes back and goes to the right side once Juhász is by, going into the side of Dobsa and spinning him around.
    Sergey Melnichuk - 20 points - 1 strike

Kunze vs. Stulic, Lap 2 Turn 9
Kunze goes for a move on Stulic, but doesn’t have an overlap. Stulic turns in quite early but a) Kunze has no overlap and b) He has to avoid Keithley.
    Racing incident

Stulic vs. Kunze, Lap 2, Turn 13
Kunze goes for an aggressive overtake on Stulic, but has an overlap when the 2 make a bit of contact. Stulic then hits the back of Kunze in the next corner, but doesn’t take the position. Agressive racing but just within the limit.
    Racing incident

Kunze vs. Juhasz, Lap 2 Turn 16
Stulic goes sideways in 130R. It appears at first that there is a gap on the right, Juhász goes for it and Stulic closes it late. Juhasz goes on the grass to take the position, taps Stulic, and both Stulic and Juhász brake far too late and Juhász crashes into the innocent Kunze.
It’s similar to Kunze vs. Bánki in race 1, but whilst Bánki braked immediately, Juhász tried to complete the pass, and does not avoid Kunze either. To some extent he is also put into a difficult situation by Stulic, which is why it is not a double penalty.
    Slaven Stulic - warning.
Krisztian Juhász - 20 points, 1 strike (Grid penalty Macau)

Stulic vs. Cavillon, Lap 3, Turn 1
Cavillon is on the inside of Stulic into turn 1. Stulic keeps coming across, Cavillon straightens the steering and they make contact. Stulic goes off as a result and Cavillon loses a place.
    Aenore Cavillon - 10 points
    Slaven Stulic - 10 points
Stulic and Cavillon are racing too aggressively with each other and do not only cost themselves positions, but also put the other cars in danger! Stulic has to leave space for other cars! He has already served a grid penalty for not leaving enough space for other cars, and now loses places himself by repeating the same thing.

Dobsa vs. Stulic, Lap 3 Turn 2
Stulic re-enters after the previous incident. His re-entry is fine, but he has a slowdown and serves it on the racing line. He has 60 seconds to solve the slowdown and it is not cool to solve it on the racing line. Dobsa does not realize this and hits Stulic, but also does not lose anything as a result.
    Slaven Stulic - warning

Dencs vs. Löhner, Lap 3, Degners
Dencs makes a mistake in Degner 1, goes over the kerb and slides in front of Löhner. Löhner has no chance to avoid him and taps him. From this point, Dencs is a passenger.
    Racing incident

Dobsa vs. Cavillon, Lap 3 Hairpin
Cavillon solves a slowdown on the exit of the hairpin. He almost comes to a complete stop. Dobsa hits him and loses places. Dobsa could have maybe also avoided it, but there is really no way of expecting a car to come to a stop on the racing line. Unlike Stulic 2 incidents earlier, Cavillon is significantly slower at the contact.
Aenore Cavillon - 20 points - 1 strike (Grid penalty Macau)

Nagy vs. Dornieden, Lap 5, Casio Triangle
Nagy goes for a dive on Dornieden, makes a bit of contact but generally gets it stopped, and pushes Dornieden to the outside. In the left hander, Dornieden now pushes Nagy to the outside and stays ahead. Equally hard racing from both drivers.
    Racing incident

Nagy vs. Dornieden, Lap 7, Turn 1
Nagy tries to go around the outside of Dornieden into turn 1. Dornieden is late on the brakes, gets a slide and hits the kerb. Nagy leaves room, but he takes a risk on the outside and also narrows it a bit, while Dornieden can’t hold the line after contact with the kerb. Nagy goes off as a result. Whilst this is more Dornieden’s fault than Nagy’s, it’s not agressive driving that is causing the contact, and Nagy has to remember that he is taking the risk to go on the outside.
    Warning - Alexander Dornieden

Kunze vs. Juhasz, Lap 12 Turn 16
Kunze goes for a fair move on the outside of Juhász. When Juhász sees it, he opens the brakes and pushes Kunze. Not a big incident, but unfair driving.
Positions swapped at finish - Julian Kunze and Krisztián Juhász

    Race direction vs. Mukonin
Usage of wrong car. We even sent an e-mail to Mukonin, informing that he is not allowed to swap cars.
Pavel Mukonin - Disqualification from both races - 2 strikes

    Server 3 Race 2

Hohloch vs. Andreas vs. Alves, Lap 2, Casio Triangle
Andreas goes around the outside of Alves in 130R. Actually a great pass. But then Andreas goes across to the left side, squeezes Alves, spins and slides into Hohloch.
    Franz Christian Andreas - 4 points - 1 strike

Hohloch vs. Vigneron vs. Pellegrini, Lap 5, Casio Triangle
    Very messy situation.
Pellegrini brakes early. (Still misses the corner, looks like low brake pressure, because he brakes early every lap)
Vigneron loses control, when he brakes while turning to the right, trying to avoid Pellegrini. Vigneron hits the wall hard and bounces back on track and gets collected by Kuzela.
Hohloch is on the brakes when he sees Vigneron’s crash and committed on his line, there is little he can do. Vigneron slides back on track and gets collected Hohloch. Hohloch spins and is stuck in the middle of the circuit.
Alves hits Hohloch, but nothing he could have done. Rozitis avoids it, Vladisavleic then collects Hohloch but also cannot do much to avoid it. Eriksson than hits them as well, but from his position he cannot see much.
Hohloch was indecisive for a moment if he should go left or stay in position, which didn’t help. The best thing would probably have been to press escape. But given the circumstances, we judge this as a…
    Racing incident

Claes vs. Eriksson, Lap 7, Turn 1
Claes goes on the outside of Eriksson. Claes already turns in before Eriksson does, they make contact before the corner and Claes goes off.
    Racing incident

    Server 4 Race 2

Van Roon vs. Nouaud, Lap 12, Casio Triangle
Van Roon goes for a move into the final chicane. Braking point is OK. Nouaud changes the line twice in the braking zone and gets hit by Van Roon, who has no chance to react. Van Roon loses 1 position.
    Quentin Nouaud - 2 points - 1 strike

The penultimate round of the Esports WTCR OSCARO season on RaceRoom features probably the most dangerous track of the season: The Guia Circuit in Macau. Those who participated or watched the race last season will remember the scenes at the start, when Márk Nándori’s Hyundai was launched 5 metres into the air, or the heroic efforts of Elmar Kurbanov in the Alfa Romeo. One thing is certain: Macau is always good for a surprise.

In the pre-qualifying, Nikodem Wisniewski from Poland (Williams Esports / CUPRA) set the fastest time ahead of championship leader Gergo Baldi (M1RA Esports / Hyundai) who continued his strong form, and Florian Hasse (EURONICS Gaming / CUPRA). The two Audis of Néstor García (Red Bull Racing Esports) and Jack Keithley (Williams Esports), who both would not be qualified for the final in Macau with their current points, were fourth and fifth, while last year’s champion Bence Bánki (SDL eSports by Logitech G / Honda), who topped the times last year by over 6 tenths, was only 7th this time around.

Hungarian drivers seem to perform particularly well at Macau, and next to Baldi and Bánki (who lives in Slovakia), Attila Dencs, Márk Balazsin, Norbert Leitner and David Nagy also got into the top 10. The strongest driver from Macau was Lei Sabino (Macau e-Motorsports / Lynk & Co) in 13th.

For several championship contenders, Macau proved to be difficult, with Dornieden in 18th, Kunze 25th and Jarschel 26th. For Tim Jarschel, this race will be particularly tricky, as he has received a grid penalty after contact with Jack Keithley in Suzuka, and has to start from the back.

Niels Langeveld meanwhile will start in server 1 for the first time! The Dutch real racing driver just slipped into the server in 29th, but after his strong showings so far in the season, a higher finishing position is the target.

Emre Cihan topped the times for the Asian/Oceanian time zone race once again, ahead of Lei Sabino and championship leader Andika Rama Maulana.

    Server 1 Race 1

Dobsa vs. Langeveld / Dencs vs. Langeveld, Lap 1, Lisboa (Turn 3)
Langeveld brakes too late for the first corner, hits Dobsa and overtakes Dobsa and Dencs. No really bad consquences but still clearly an illegal pass
Niels Langeveld - 20 points - 1 strike (grid penalty for Sepang)

Balazsin vs. Eriksson, Lap 8, Turn 14
Eriksson hits the back of Balazsin, spinning him around.
    Jesper Eriksson - 20 points - 1 strike

    Dencs vs. Langeveld, Post race
Langeveld abuses the ingame chat after the race.
    Niels Langeveld - warning

    Server 1 Race 2

Dencs vs. Diner, Lap 1, Turn 2
Dencs is on the inside coming up to Turn 2, he has to slow down a bit to make the corner.
Diner is behind him on the outside. Diner also brakes, but not as much as Dencs, and then turns in, clipping Dencs and spinning off, causing a big accident which involves every single car behind them except Dornieden. Double penalty.
Attila Diner - 40 points, 2 strikes (Grid penalty for Sepang)

Hasse vs. Keithley, Lap 1, Lisboa
Keithley is on the inside of Hasse into Lisboa under braking. First contact is made when Hasse turns in, leaving very little room, and then Keithley goes through with also a bit of contact, but we feel like it is even in this scene, and also just within the tolerance.
    Racing incident

Dobsa vs. Leitner, Lap 1, Police
Leitner brakes late into the right hander and hits Dobsa in the back who goes into the barrier as a result and loses 2 places.
    Norbert Leitner - 20 points - 1 strike

Banki vs. Garcia, Baldi, Honzik, Lap 3, Mandarin
Honzik hits the wall in turn 2 and spins, and gets collected by Wisniewski. As both cars slide across the circuit, Hasse and Keithley slalom their way through, doing a good job. Brzezinski and Bánki both slow down (quite late), but Bánki still hits Honzik and crashes himself.
Garcia flies through without braking at all, swerves and slams into Honzik’s stranded car. He makes no attempt of slowing down.
Baldi sees a clear track ahead of him, but then has to brake as well when Garcia hits Honzik. He should have slowed down more, but also doesn’t hit anyone.
Honzik could have pressed escape to avoid further damage, but he is still in the middle of the accident when Bánki collects him.
    Jaroslav Honzik - warning
Nestor Garcia - 20 points, 1 strike (Race ban for Sepang)
    Gergo Baldi - no action

Balazsin vs. Langeveld, Lap 9, Turn 14
Langeveld tries to go for a move in the infield section on Balazsin, and taps him into a slide. Balazsin doesn't lose the place.
    Niels Langeveld - warning

    Server 2 Race 2

Melo vs. Kalocsai vs. Wong, Lap 3, Melco Hairpin
Melo outbrakes himself and goes into the back of Holy. Melo and Kalocsai go wide. Holy accelerates very slowly. Kalocsai passes both drivers on the inside.
Melo takes a very narrow exit and turns in hard, while Wong arrives. Wong tags Melo and Melo spins.
Andre Melo - 8 points, 1 strike (for hitting a car in yellow flag zone)
Kelvin Wong - 8 points, 1 strike (for causing an incident under yellow flags)
David Kalocsai - warning (Technically it is not allowed to pass under yellow flags in this corner. But given the situation, it was the smartest thing Kalocsai could have done, since both cars went very wide and he would have caused an even bigger traffic jam by waiting.)

Hohloch vs. Barrier, Lap 10, Mandarin
Barrier has a damaged car. Van Roon goes up the inside into Mandarin, Barrier leaves the door open and brakes to let Van Roon go through, and also since with this damage he cannot take Mandarin fast, and also takes a wide line in Mandarin. Hohloch comes up behind them, approaching at racing speed while Barrier is slower, goes for the inside, can’t make it stick and hits Barrier, then crashing into the wall himself.
Barrier should have let both drivers through before Mandarin, or fix the damage on his car, since this causes a dangerous situation.
Hohloch on the other hand should have waited and braked in this situation and not gone for a small gap.
    Warning - Valentin Barrier
    Warning - Marcel Hohloch
Note: The stewards disagreed on this decision.

    WTCR ASIA/OCEANIA
    Race 2

Moreno vs. Cihan, Lap 1, Turn 18
Cihan gets into the back of Moreno, clips him and Moreno spins. Cihan gets hit by Pereira, and both go into the wall. Moreno loses 3 places, while Cihan and Pereira drop to the back. This incident also causes the track to be blocked, affecting even more drivers who spin to avoid it.
We assume that the lag is contributing to the incident, but having a stable connection is driver responsibility.
    Emre Cihan - 20 points, 1 strike
