Hello, i have a question regarding DTM cars, will we see cars from 2019 or maybe 2020 at some point? i really love DTM and i'd love to new update with DTM in mind. Probably somebody already asked this but i just joined this forum to ask this
Nothing announced as of yet so DTM 2016 is the latest we have. Aston Martin aren't licensed at present so if the 2019 season was to be introduced it would most likely be Audi and BMW only. DTM have announced an eSports championship using RaceRoom so they must still have a good relationship with the development team. https://www.touringcartimes.com/2020/04/24/dtm-announce-five-round-eseries-launch/
"The DTM esports Classic Challenge tournament will be hosted in association with RaceRoom, reuniting a long-standing partnership with the gaming brand" "The Classic Challenge is a fun and accessible programme operating independently ahead of a full-scale DTM esports campaign coming later this year" there is some hope
Well, we all hoped for complete classic seasons and new DTM seasons back when Mercedes did the DTM esports championship, but nothing did happen. And this year GT Masters will only be esports atm, so no new liveries (from 2019 or 2020!) or cars. Don't want to sound too pessimistic here, but lets face reality: DTM races on Brands Hatch GP so no chance we will ever get this series Everything that races on this cursed track is avoided by Raceroom and Sector3Studios. Greetings
Yup, you might be better off asking for a Formula E season, as that is where all the DTM teams have gone.
With Austin Martin having left DTM and Audi leaving at the end of the year, that leaves only BMW. Plus with DTM combining with the Japanese Super car series, it kind looks the end of the DTM. It's a shame because they always had good races to watch. I stopped watching because they blocked it in my area, and consequently I sort of lost interest in the DTM in RaceRoom as well when that happened. With the lock down because of the pandemic showing just how much gasoline powered cars are trashing the atmosphere, I think we are going to see a bigger push towards hybrid and pure electric race cars in the future. But I personally think there will always be gas powered racing. I mean lets face it, there is nothing like the sound of 850 hp rumbling past. And it will always be there, but it will be more and more a rich mans sport. You might want to start getting used to the high pitched whine of electric motors. Maybe they can mount giant loud speakers to the tops of the cars with old recordings of gasoline engines to spice up the sound
I dont think we need to go to those lengths.. This shows the cars make some pretty sweet sounds from the right angle.
Sector3 studios should license their Silhouette series design to DTM series as a new platform. Those cars are almost spot on comparable to current vehicles
Agree. Never quite got the hate on the electric sounds anyways, sure a proper screaming engine sounds better but this by no means sounds bad and it certainly sounds a lot better than f1 these days
I still hope we will get 2019 when Mercedes still have cars running in DTM. Or we could get 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Mercedes-AMG didn't have cars running in the 2019 DTM. Aston Martin replaced them for 2019 but then withdrew before 2020 leaving Audi and BMW. If a DTM 2019 update did come to RaceRoom, it would likely be Audi and BMW only as Sector3 currently don't have any Aston Martin's licenced.
I would instantly buy all of the Seasons of DTM. This would be low hanging fruits for S3 to make some 2018 cars. It's only a new Silhouette and some small things to change. 2019 where a bit other, but AFAIK could R3E simulate Turbo engines. We should all write to Gerhard Berger to give S3 the permission in such a special case as he is in now. It's Corona, many people who love to watch races try SimRacing now. DTM is not very alive after the Audi schocking. So it could be a win-win situation or at least a goodbye to all.
I have to say I agree. As a BTCC regular I find the noise, way the cars deliver their power and go through the gears part of the experience.
