Hi there, I don't know if a general AI thread exist (couln't find one). Had a 12 lap race at Mid-Ohio with the following settings: - Group C & Group 4 Multiclass (30 cars overall) - AI set to 106 - Time of day: afternoon I noticed that the AI drivers are quite slow throughout Turn 1, here it is no problem to get really close to them or even pass even if you were 1-2 seconds behind them shortly before. I have the impression they brake too much for Turn 1 or approach it in a bad way. Also it is quite easy to divebomb and pass them from Turn 11 to 12.
currently I do a championship with PCC Germany at 100% fixed AI. Time of day: noon (if that is relevant). 30 AI drivers I can confirm that AI is quite slow at Turn 1 at Mid-Ohio. I have done 5 round so far at US tracks. Elkhard Lake (no issues and AI is not that super fast in carousel) Mid Ohio (see above), rest was fine Laguna Seca (AI sometimes spins out at the turn before you climb the hill to Corkscrew) Indianapolis (moto GP layout) (AI quite often spins at final corner and in the left-right-left before going to back straight) Sonoma (was full layout, I think, not WTCC, but does not matter). AI spun in qual at the 1st right hander and stood there whole qualifying session. In race the AI also spun there quite a lot. At my former chamionship with WTCC 16 (fixed AI at 99%) at daytona. AI very slow out of chicane and spinning a lot "inside" of the chicane. I assume that setting up the AI for so many car/track combos is difficult but in the end it is always the same patrts, they are crashing too often. At other parts of the track, they never crash (even if they run side by side). I thought already about of making a new thread where I state where the AI is "fully" worng. Currently I like driving cars without any TC or ABS and currently the AI breaks better than I do (need to work on that) but since the last major AI update they are not so much faster in fast corners (like carousel at Elkhard Lake). So I like racing the AI a lot currently. Just those few corners at few tracks (maybe across all car classes) are a little bit annoying (just a little bit as I do not manage to get always good qualy, so if AI spins in front of me and other AIs are not so good like humans to drove around such an incident, I gain a few positions ;-) ).
@fbiehne @anno900 thank you for reporting your findings to us. It's only through reports such as this that a lot of issues are brought to our attention, so keep it up @Hervé45 can you investigate it for me and collect some evidence and reports please?
I did some tests on mid ohio (full) 1) AI adaptive with porsche cup enduro with 24AI and I am 15th on grid I finished the race in 2nd position so the AI is quite slow overall but not particularly in turns 1 or 11 or 12 with an average time of 1:29 2) AI at 113 with porsche cup enduro with 24AI and I am 15eme on grid I finished the race in 9th position and the AI seems to be more suited to my level I don't notice any particular slowness in turns 1 or 11 or 12 with an average time of 1:29 3) I did not see very different things with nissan group c with an average time of 1:18 Maybe i'm not quick enough to have the issues you are reporting 4) Can you share a replay (vcr file) that i can view please drop it here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wGL152_n1Y9DIEpFZDSq0IGlUqf9FtC_?usp=sharing sorry for my english I use google translate
You can use a different car, the one that is naturally faster, while keeping AI to use Group C/Group 4 cars.
