The DTM not only continues to speed through Europe's top circuits, but also shifts up a gear virtually: after the success of the DTM Esports Classic Challenge, DTM now hosts the first official DTM Esports series: the DTM Esports Championship 2020!

In this high-profile Esports competition, 18 top sim racers have the unique chance to compete for the title alongside six DTM drivers. The teams, consisting of one DTM driver and three sim racers each, are going to speed their racing cars on legendary European racetracks over the screens. A battle between the best contestants from both the real and the virtual world.

Besides the fastest individual sim racer we are also seeking for the most successful team. An exclusive career boost program.

THE FORMAT
We're chasing racing records: Before the start of the DTM Esports Championship 2020, an online qualifier will take place for several weeks. From August 28 to September 13, all participants will have the chance to drive their fastest lap possible on three tracks in a leaderboard challenge. Your best laps on the three tracks will be added up to define your total time for your position on the leaderboard. Consequently, the top 18 of the Leaderboard qualify for the DTM Esports Championship.

Together with the professional DTM drivers, the top riders will then complete four rounds, each containing two races of 20 minutes. The fourth and final round consists of a special format: the Grand Finale.



THE TEAMS
Each team consists of one DTM driver and three sim racers from the leaderboard who are assigned to the teams randomly. The DTM drivers act as mentors and provide guidance.

In total, the DTM Esports Championship is carried out with six teams. At the end of the racing series, an exciting prize awaits not only the best sim racer, but also the best team.

The best sim racer as well as the best team of sim racers will participate in a career boost program lasting several days with professional coaching.

WHERE TO WATCH
All rounds of the DTM Esports Championship are commented in English and German. They are broadcasted in English on RaceRoom social media, English and German on DTM Grid and at Ran.de in German. Further channels will follow.

 

Why is it not fair. Artificial assists carry a weight penalty and are slower anyway. Anyone can enter. Only the fastest will get through. Pretty fair?

 

I've tried the car with various settings of driving aids when testing. And my fastest laps by far was without any aids. You just need to feel the car to be fast. You need to be in control of it to maximise it. And while I'm definetely not the fastest driver, that should be equal to every sim racer.

Still slower. The artificial ABS we use as an assist is not performance enhancing, it's designed that way. It's to enable lower skilled players or those without good hardware to enjoy the game. The fastest drivers will always use get real.

 

A lot of cars use auto clutch. And not everybody has its own clutch pedal. If you like it/don't like it, switch it on or off. That's the great thing about Raceroom
