    Hello,

I looked trough the forums but couldn't find other posts related to Oculus or Vive..

Will the game have Oculus Rift and/or HTC Vive support? It'd be amazing to drive around the tracks with all the different cars with an oculus / vive. Imagine the great sound this game delivers with a virtual reality goggle and a nice wheel!

    Also,

Are you guys getting virtual reality goggles?

That would require adding a DX11 mode... Doesn't look like there's the kind of manpower they'd need to do that, but who knows...

    OculusVR need Dx11, not SteamVR

They said in their last ITW that they thinking a lot about VR.
They may be able to have a Vive support, but not oculus (because dx9 engine).

But the harder parts will be the GUI/Menus, etc that are not VR compliant at all at this time.

RD : People enjoy their sim racing in many different ways. Some of the more popular formats are triple screen setups and VR. How is development going towards supporting these in R3E?

SO: We dropped the ball on triple screen support. It’s one of those things that keeps getting pushed to the bottom in terms of priority but we want to investigate it and see what we can do at some point. VR is something we want to support better as the VR headsets become more available for End users.

JFC: I’m a huge VR enthusiast, first thing I did when we received our Oculus kits was to add support for RaceRoom EVO (this version of the game I mentioned that we bring to events and shows), and I was quite gutted when they dropped directx9. But OpenVR and Vive do support Dx9 so as soon as those kits land here in the studio, count on me to jump on it. The tough part is going to be the UI. For RaceRoom EVO we didn’t have a problem with it sincethe UI is all web, but in the Steam version, we have quite a complex UI environment. Some menus are web, some are in flash. It’s going to be a headache, but for sure worth it in the end.

I hope that it will support Oculus.
The windshield view is amazing, the more realistic and the best on the market IMO.

yeah - I'm hoping for oculus-support to. But as Oculus only support DX11-Games it doesn't look so good for now... but who knows if Raceroom won't be able to support DX11 or higher in future...

But as it looks now the HTC Vive seems to be the better VR-System when it comes to the headset it self, but with its room-scanning-system a bit more complex.

And the price probably higher too.
I"m not sure that the room-scanning system would be useful for racing games.

Damned i didn't know this kind of thing.

It looks great but it seems that their kickstarter campaign is off.
I would have been interested by a 1500 euros oculus version.
By the way i'm tall and weight a ton, does it work for me too? ;)

Can't vote. Both points are important.

But i'd like to see a good support for VR. At least after the official release of the consumer versions of Vive/Rift/etc.
Racing (or flying) in VR is the most immersive experience i had, since the invention of FFB wheels.

Maybe Oculus with OpenVR (the Vive support), like Elite Dangerous. Not with the full Oculus SDK as you said (because dx9).

I think the Rift is the better joice for VR Racing. I tested it with Asetto Corsa, its so amazing and i think it will be the maximum of simulation if we can use it with R3E too.

If the Rift takes off ( and I hope it does ) DX 11 or better yet 12 seems like something that should be worked on ASAP. Actually it probably should anyways if R3E is going to remain Sector3's primary focus for the coming years.

Anybody who already owns a VR set on this forum?
Just wondering if nobody tested R3E with third party drivers, http://vorpx.com for example.

Well, looking at the asking price of the Rift, I'd say Sector3 has plenty of time until VR tech becomes a priority. :)

Atleast it makes waiting for the Vive to compare at bit more bearable. Anything below 500 and I would've probably caved and just pre-ordered the damned thing.
