The difference to iRacing is in color study. Color balance, color choices etc Its all manually set in these old engines. Pcars uses physically Based Rendering and will almost always look natural.
I feel of all the sims Pcars looks the least natural. While it clearly has the best graphics, It almost looks to cartoony. I don't own Iracing (yet) but from the videos I've seen I looks a lot more natural and realistic. Rfactor 2 is another one that looks realistic but doesnt have the best graphics if that makes any sense.. There's something about the color palette that R3E uses that makes it look special though. Colors just look richer.
perhaps natural was the wrong word. Read the sentence with "balanced". An unbalanced picture sticks to the eye like a needle (like most ps2 / ps3 games)
It's interesting but check this picture. The back of the cars look fake. And sometimes the contact shadow is missing probably a kind of optimization but it kills immersion.
balanced Unbalanced The difference you see is in colour harmony. Color study etc. Picture two will look good until the moment you see a balanced picture (one). Your eyes know this.
Its not saturation, really. Its the manual tuning of colours. color study is very hard Everyone knows this one: A and B are the same color. They look different because the entire color palete they used in that picture is balanced.
The yellow car has a strange color. By the way colors are linked to light. I remember people of DriveClub saying that they bought a specific library (algorythm) for their light.
This look great. SPA iracing. Colors of the cars and the environment look to have different treatment, perhaps this is one key.
I created a thread last year concerning the topic: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/blueish-color-tint-in-r3r-graphics.791/ Most games choose a warm/ yellowish color palette, whilst R3E is at the other side of the color spectrum (cold/blue tints). Ideally it should be in between the two.
There is more than colors IMO. For example, where is the shadow under the car? Is it a kind of optimization? If this is the case it's a bad idea because i can clearly see it and it kills immersion again.
Well TBH if you want to look R3E better just add some more light from the sun and it would look awesome It's always a bit dark for my taste in R3E.
in my settings, the contact shadows are set to 5. So there are 5 cars with shadows under the car. When there are 6 cars, one won't have it.
Thanks didn't know that. By the way this should not be a parameter, how many people like me think that it's a bug?
I would like to have more parameters to adjust. I am using a AMD CPU and it is hard to get stable 60 fps with a big grid because the game is not very good optimized. So I would love to adjust more graphic things to get the best out of it.
