LOVE those Formula Juniors!

They were one of my "go to" cars in Project Cars, and now they are here in RRE! Some nice intense racing and makes for some interesting passing because touching wheels means you're off the track.

Good addition to the sim.

Has this bug actually been reported to S3?

 

I've been scrubbing wheels here and there and never been off track, but I agree! Allot of fun to drive at smaller tracks / shorter track s layouts!

 

Missing contact shadows on the wheels?
Reported it back when testing them, but iirc it's an engine limitation and can't be fixed, at least for the time being.
Devs, feel free to correct me tho if I'm talking bollocks.

 

Simply missing ALL shadows. It looks like if the cars are ghosts and are not in contact with the track.
Pitty, the drive is OK.

That's what I did with the Formula Junior. I did not buy them...

 

Still a bit puzzled to read this.
I just tested the test drive function in the public build and this is what I see:

Note that the shadow quality was set to low but I was too lazy to change it just for the screenshot.

 

Looks good enough to me.
Going to try again in a few hours.
I used cockpit cam like always, but I also switched to follow cam, just to see how the car looked. I am 100% sure there were no shadows.

 

Okay, tried the exact same car as before, the RedBull Racing #18.
Shadows u der the car were present now.
I wonder, I had been doing some TT and I got a leaderboard connecting error right before I tried the Formule Junior...
Could that have had any influence ?

If you mean that the contact shadows are missing on the wheels:

 

They always use 2 shadows in order to avoid "the flying over the road" effect.

You can see here the second shadow under the tyres and the car.

 

Yes, there's the car shadow and the contact shadow, which you can enabled or disable independently.

Contact shadows are there, but as I said before, they are missing on the wheels due to the game engine.

 

What I have noticed is that it seems that the contacts shadows under the wheels also disappears along with the car shadows when driving through track shadows.
Which makes it look like they are hovering.

And yes, the contact shadows of the wheels is missing no matter what, just more noticeable when driving through shadows.


But why are they missing under the wheels do to the engine, not capable of handling more than one contact shadow per car?

Automobilista is on an old engine, and they have contact shadows under the wheels..
