I'd love to see DRS, KERS (like 2013 and pre, where you can use it yourself for 7s a lap) and blown diffusers. Imagine that! What would y'all love to see for FRR1?
For me personally, no DRS, no KERS, no green or red shells, no turbo mushrooms and, crucially to my purchase (although I don't expect this), different chassis and engine combinations; so it's not a spec series and all the cars have slight nuances. Some mix of chassis and engines like late '90s CART would be ideal, in this regard. Even better if it could be a mix of engine layouts, but that's not very realistic in modern day 'formula' racing I guess. Methinks I'll stick to sportscars...
I'd like to see something based on the late 80s / early 90s era. Manual gearbox, no electronics, something properly hard to drive for real men like me
I guess i'm too young to properly enjoy this. I actually like the V6 turbo sound they have now. It's so much more brutal. I admit they could be a bit louder, but the V6 has that grunty lawnmower feel to it wich I adore!
Nothing but V10. Saw my first F1race in 1996 at Hungaroring in Budapest. All I remember, it was hot and dusty and the engines were screaming loud. I'll never forget, when the first car was passing by, I've got goose bumps. And that had happened every year again, I visited F1 'till 2004. 17000 or 18000 rpm, yes, that's what I'd like. No dominating aero but mechanical grip.
that's the argument a lot of people made when the V6's came out. They had their RPM limit lowered so they just don't scream like the old V8's and V10's. (15000 vs 19000 rpm) And I don't think any video could prepare you for hearing them in person. I was able to hear the old V8's at COTA a few years ago and it was a "holy $hit" moment.
I don't mean louder as in "screaming", just the ammount of noise that comes from them in general. Watching television broadcasting nowadays is a bit quieter, or less impacting. The screaming engines definately give a holy shit moment, I hear my parents talk about those days all the time Me growing up with 4-stroke gokarts for a long time of my life probably made me enjoy the rumble of a lawnmower engine (or a McLaren Honda F1 v6 turbo?) a bit more than others I guess.
It may have sounded good, but oh boy was the V10-era the more successful Ferrari. Two cylinders traded for Schumi was a smart move.
I only started watching F1 with the last of the V8 Interceptors, so a while ago I went on YouTube and watched some comparisons of the V10s and V12s, and I have to say: V10 all the way. And that was just crappy YouTube audio too. Imagine what they would sound like in R3E.
