On one hand this is very exciting news, but on the other hand it makes me a little cautious about buying new content for R3E.

    haha

I just realised today that I still had a silly joke avatar from a time with @Christian Göpfert and went back to the avatar I'd been using since, wow, long time on various forums.

What does it mean for RaceRoom? No change. Pressure still on.

    ^ short-, medium- or long-termed?

And follow-up question, does S3 and SB now share staff and offices? Or is it two independently set up teams/companies?

congrats, whatever may come out of this. Hopefully allows projects with more independence.
Theory: s3s works on the raceroom event version and other tasks contractually bound to, simbin can work on unrelated stuff. Both have some cross licensing on technology and assets.

SimBin's focus will be on creating cross-platform racing titles for current and next-gen platforms.

That is what it means, got to go where the money is, just hope it dosnt dilute the PC gamers experience

I think it's gonna be like the rfactor 2 deal, but in this case the new studio will make the new games while the old team will work on the current one.

Congratulations, I sincerely hope that this is for the best.
In fact I'm quite intrigued about this, I'll be following the news.

On a side note, the "Coming soon" on the new SimBin website is so like you guys, you just missed the ™ symbol :D

Staff that Sector3 shares with SimBin and its new projects, cannot be as busy with Raceroom anymore as it was before. And text says that is what happend: Sector 3 assists in relaunching SimBin.

Could be a sign that the planned content and feature volume has found its limit, and so staff gets free to join new projects.

As long as Raceroom remains playable, maybe even offline, its okay. No journey can and will last forever.

The desire to be able to run Raceroom offline becomes even greater in me now.

It is great to see Simbin is back, hopefully, R3E will remain the same as before. With Simbin's return, I do love to see an upgraded version of R3E for multiplatform with more features and updated visuals. S3 and Simbin are in quite a good position with quite a few licensing series in R3E.

There are exciting times ahead for the racing games genre. It felt like racing games came back from the dead in the last few years. I was wondering what racing games to play 5 years or so back, now, I have trouble picking up which game to play. Definitely a good thing.

Can only be a good thing if all the acquired licenses automatically transfer to SimBin UK.
Have always said Sector 3 have the best tracks and cars, just need the back end to be as good.
Hopefully things like good Multiplayer, dynamic weather, time of day are now coming.

And now, imo, we can take into account the Unreal Engine leak.

Putting my cynical cap on, I'd say the Unreal development was so successful that rather than update, easier to start anew with a cross platform Dx11 Sim!
Cannot believe how many race Sims are on or about to enter the market, yet when you go online it's the same old names supporting whatever connotation it may be, hope we all have deep pockets, fancy the next few years are gonna get expensive!
Oh well, think I'll go do 30 mins of practice, 20 qualifying then get punted off at first corner in race to ease my frustration! :D

Hm, I am not eager to follow that course. I have two race sims here that I both use as much and like as much as I did on their days 1 one and a half years and three years ago. I see no need nor feel a wish to replace any of the two soon. I already pass on many new titles that have been released in the genre over the past year or so.

With people like me, SimBin probably may find it hard to earn profits easily, but then I probably do not belong to their target group anyway. Its not hostility on my side, it just is that if you have no Ferrari, and get one, you like it most. If you buy a second one, you still are pleased - but a bit less so than you were with your first. Your third Ferrari will excite you less than your second, and so forth. Well, right now I already have two Ferraris, maybe even three, standing in my garage. I feel no urgent drive to get another one soon.

I also have a perosnal issue and a practical one as well, with Microsoft, and since longer time now run a zero-Windows10 policy, and have taken hardware steps to migrate to Linux, a bit of console, and sticking to W7. Any future title that depends on having W10 in use, will be boycotted by me. Which nowadays I find easier than I would have 15 years ago.
