    Hello :)

If you can just be patient one more day or two, we're going to patch again this week and address several MP issues.

-Portimao turn 1 cut detection being too harsh.
-Fixed issue with people starting at wrong spot and getting DQ.
-Fixed issue with players with a delayed start from pitlane having to do one more lap in race (first lap wasn't being registered properly).

We have more fixes lined up for a later patch in December.

always amazing how calm the S3 staff responds to abusive comments.
Clearly the complete opposite from Slightly Mad Studios staff and forum moderators.

If this was the Pcars forum it would rain forum-bans at least 5 times a day. lol

Regarding that, we did hear reports about join lags being back, but still have to reproduce and investigate. Seems to not be happening for everyone.

Maybe not everyone but most of us! Before the patch only a few had this joinlags.
But all in all it goes into the right direction after the last patch. :)

What kind of specs do you need to repro join lags?

I can't repro it here for example, all smooth.

    I don't understand.
Haven't you been testing before release?
Could something be wrong with Beta-Testers specs, since you were not expecting this?
How are we to understand that problems only appear when a patch is released?
Problems that make the game unplayable for days.
    Please explain.

I just mean with the computers I have available here, I'm not getting the join lag.

I'm wondering what your hardware is (CPU, RAM, graphic card, hard disk type), so we can repro this.

Maybe its related to players with higher ping joining the server? Or maybe those who have the game out of focus (alt+tab) as I noticed the game loads slower in those cases.

It happens to me but only sometimes (and when it does happen it happens to everyone on the server), which makes me think its not necessarily about PC specs.

It happens when a player join a Multiplayer-Session. Almost everyone who ist already in the Multiplayer Session has a massiv lag / screen freeze. Last friday we made a test run (virtualracing.org). When i joined the session almost everybody had this lag! @Robert Wiesenmüller (Beta-Tester) was on our Server.

The probem is if the car itself is not yet at the server then there is apparently a joinlag.
(Every time a driver joins a car that does not yet exist on the server)

That was already before Race 07.
At the Weißbierbude (german community) there was an updater tool where you could adjust when the cars should be loaded (if it is in the box, if it stands, or never)

Please test once, for example GT3 + GT2 + P1 is to be driven, then the problem is very quickly recognizable!

    My system:
    CPU: i5 3570 - RAM: 8GB Corsair PC1333 - GFX: NVidia GTX 970 - Wheel: TM 500rs - Pedals: Fanatec CSP V2 - Triple Screen - Windows 7 64Bit

yes that's what I also think.

When a car is not yet on the server through another player, it has to be loaded during session it it will give you the lag.
People that did not experience the lag may have luck or drive on a private server where most car models are already present, or drive on a server with only one or a few manufacturers.

Just my guess. But it seems the most plausible.

I've always had the join lag. Lasts about half a second, just enough to screw up a quali lap.

May help whenever you have an AI issue, to always, always.... list what class and difficulty level you are racing them at.

All classes of AI were improved in the November patch, and they all use different AI code. So some classes are better than others.

A generic statement isnt the most useful since there are so many cars that the comment could be about. :)

Thank you, this has already been tested and fixed once already. If you recall about a week ago, there was no issue with this, however, with recent events, invisible cars and what not, the p2p (Peer to peer) connection which smooths out car movements and adds more detail between drivers within a certain distance of each other, had to be removed.
I don't know how they (the devs) did that but, given this issue with join lag is back and the time it would take to rework the MP without p2p from scratch, I'd guess it was a rollback to a previous MP incarnation .
It is a temporary solution to allow everyone to race and see each other. A permanent solution is being worked on, I don't have a time frame so I'll just guess at "Soon™" for now.

Also are the DTM 2015 rules going to be fixed? Like a standing start instead of a rolling start and the mandatory pit stop only being in the second race?
