I recently bought myself a 4k TV and was very pleased to discover that I can play R3E in 4k@60FPS. It looks great.

However, there is an issue with 4k scaling that shrinks some elements of the game menu down to quarter size e.g. the mouse pointer becomes tiny (barely visible) and the storefront page shrinks so it's almost unreadable. Also the virtual mirror shrinks down to quarter size.

Will anything be done to improve 4k support?

Also on the subject of 4k, will car liveries be upgraded to improve their clarity? For instance, when driving in bonnet cam the liveries look very blocky and pixelated. This is just as evident at 1080p.

You can try selecting the extralarge pointer in the mouse settings of your system (I use a custom red one). At first the game use the system pointer, but after the selection menus it changes to something else... Also you can try an intermediate resolution (2560x1440), but on TV it may introduce additional lag from scaling.

    Thank you James..!
I thought it was just me, I was beginning to think I was going madder..
The very same thing happens in RF2, only worse..
The cursor is about 2 x 2 pixels in RF2...
    One needs binoculars dear boy...
Back to RaceRoom; it does not happen every time, just nearly always.
Very annoying when you are trying to tune a car..
The other issues you have mentioned are not happening with me; storefront, mirror, blocky stuff..
Please don't get me wrong here, just trying to help.
It took me a few goes to set up the screen correctly, as you have stated yours is new, luck boy..
    What make is the screen?
Some makes are harder to setup than others.
Does it have several hdmi inputs?
Generally only one hdmi input will work correctly with a pc.
What operating system are you using?
Windows 10 will set your screen/desktop scaling by default wrong, as in wrong for what you need.
Graphics card; what have you got?
This bit can be a mine field..
    Cable.
    Yes, cable.
Is your hdmi cable the correct hdmi cable?
    To display 4K at 50/60Hz you will require a High Speed/Category 2 HDMI cable.(HDMI 2 cable).
That could be causing your blocky issues.
    See, it's simple.
    Not.
Let me know how you get on.
Honestly, it is not the game, it will be one setting or another..

    Thanks for the replies.

I don't believe there are any tech issues on my part. TV (49 inch Sony XD80) is set up properly, the HDMI cable is high speed and the input is correct for PC gaming. I can play at 4k@60Hz which wouldn't happen if the cable was not high speed HDMI.

    I'm using a GTX1070, i7 7700k and 8gb DDR4 so no issues there.

As far as I can see it's a scaling issue, something I have experienced with some other games (like rF2). I will need to experiment with Windows scaling settings and also try other games I think, although I certainly don't get the small virtual mirror issue in AMS (which I can also play in 4k@60).

Regarding the blocky liveries: I guess I didn't explain this very well. It's not a problem or glitch, just an observation that some (possibly older) liveries lose their sharpness up close i.e. bonnet view. Have a look at the 4k/8k liveries in Assetto Corsa...they are razor sharp even when up close to the car. Just a request for high res liveries basically.

    Cool James.
Sounds like you know what you are doing.
    Nice screen by the way.
Scaling will help with the cursor issue, I do it sometimes..
However it is a pain, so mostly I don't bother.
With you about the blocky stuff; that is just lo-res, same with iracing, RF2 etc.
Nothing we can do about that.

This shrinking menus thing is strange.
I don't think it is a Windows issue.
Have you checked if the tv is overscaning?
I think it is something on the screen/tv menu/setting that is kicking back to default, when you are in different parts of the game; e.g. Racing is ok, yet shop is not.
So something is changing the screen res.
Try turning off all the fancy tv related aids, so that the screen is just a screen.
    All good fun..

    James, that is weird...
I see what you mean about the mirror in the car...
Tomorrow I will play with settings, just to see if I can replicate your screen shots.

Probably should have put this in the support forum.

I use a rx 480 8gb card so I run 1440p on my 4k TV and it is beautiful. Solid 60fps and no lag that my eyes can see at least. I don't get any of the scaling issues. I did get similar problems in AC, and finally just went back to 1080p for that game. I know this doesn't solve your 4k scaling issues but I just thought I would share.

    Hello James.
I have had a play; I too have 'small' mirror in car, however not as small as yours.
    In the NVIDIA Control Panel my resolution is set at; 4k x 2k, 3840 x 2160, 60Hz.
Same screen res used in game too.
The shop page is also a bit bigger than yours, but not much.
I have also set the res lower, at 2560 x 1600 and tested that; however nothing changes, except the res, as in everything looks the same.
I still think it could be a setting on the TV/screen, however I do not think it will change that much.
Sorry I could not help more.
    Tim.

Referred to community support. Maybe they can shed some light on this.

I cannot see how it is a TV issue but who knows. Everything is set how it should be including advanced settings. It's got to be a game issue as only certain elements are affected.
