    hello people

I was lying in bed last night reading into this topic and I must of spent 2 hours reading a hell of a lot of stuff on how it works but im left a bit confused (and most the topics were made 4+ years ago), so i have a few questions

1 - Can I run 'hotlaps' in practice sessions without any ai to get my average times
2 - has any of the process of what ive read changed for 2021?
3- any decent videos i can follow?

    thanks again guys

You have to do races. but if the first race have fixe AI (lets say 100%) it gets ther much faster.

Ok do you think I should always put myself on pole position and do 5laps at 100%? how many races/laps of a track should i do?

Start in the middle with not more than 30 AI. After the first race (about 5 laps) you can switch to adaptive and enjoy.

Thats how I do it, Without the reading.

AI adaption file is made when I quit the race after the first timed lap.

You can always delete it if you're no happy with them

    Documents\My Games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience\UserData\Player1\aiadaptation.xml

Why is AI completely different during practice compared to races? I always practice against the maximum number of AI cars that a track will allow but the same AI setting for a race on that track is useless.

Mind if I ask what exactly is the difference in here? I haven't tried setting it to max, personally.

Maximum number of CARS. You’ve never raced against the max cars allowed?

    No, I didn't.

Sorry if it sounds lazy, but I can spend 30 minutes comparing grids in two modes or I can spend 1 minute writing this comment asking for more details, so... Yeah, sorry. :D

I find it makes racing more difficult with more AI cars on the track. I usually start at the back of the grid to see how hard it is work work my way up during a particular race & track. If it's too easy or hard, then I adjust the AI setting. That's just the way I've been doing it since on most race sims, since GTR2.
But back to my question: I'm wondering why, for me at least, the AI difficulty setting doesn't feel like the same during a race as it in during practice?

Ah, so that's what you mean. I'm not really sure, personally, but I do have an impression that in practice they can be a little bit slower than in race. How big is the difference you experience?

It depends on the track. In some cases the AI is harder in practice than in races & vice versa. It’s hard to find consistency.

Could it be because of a random choice of AI drivers? I assume some are quicker and some are slower...

Did you try running a fixed grid through AI selector all the time? Or this only happens with full grid and doesn't happen when the grid is partially filled?

I use the AI selector & have a set saved for each track.
