Yesterday I drove on Sonoma for the first time since the update.. I had noticed a HUGH performance drop on this track. With my videos settings I never fall under 60FPS on any tracks in any condition (even with +20AI on screen). But now, on turn 1 to 3 at Sonoma I go under 45FPS (alone on the track, against AI or in MP) The strange thing is that on the very first lap, the exit lap, everything is fine, I can have more than 150FPS. But as soon as I'm in the first turn on the second lap, frame rate drop to 40-50 on these turn, and then go back to +120FPS. Am I the only one to have this performance drop here now ?
Any hints/advice on this ? Sonoma became pretty unplayable for me. I don't understand why it run fine on the firt lap and then have this big performance drop on firsts turns after...
No GPU driver update (Geforce 660 Ti) AFAIK I tested on WTCC layout in different time condition (morning - noon - afternoon), alone, with AI, online ... Will try the other layout ASAP
No changes in your graphic settings, in game, after the patch? I assume there were no changes in your nvidia panel, right? These questions sound silly, but they are not. What are your settings, by the way? Maybe someone else can help.
I didn't change anything, only after seeing the performance hit I lowered somes to win some fps and stay above 40fps (otherwise I had less than 40fps on first turn.) I'm not on my pc, so I can't tell exactly all the graphics settings. I use something like medium with some high settings. These always gave me more than 70fps (and way more) on every track in every conditions. And it still the case, but not here.
I always used this settings: http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/hw-requirements-cpu-intensive.80150/#post-1610429 You can use NVInspector to tweak the settings as well
For what I can tell, I use lower settings than these. As I said: on every other track I have more than enougth FPS, I can have +120FPS (alone on the track). Even on Sonoma, were I have the issue. On 90% of the tracks I got a solid +100FPS. Only on the first turns (and only after the first lap) it get down to 40/45 FPS without any explanation ... never had this before !
Sonoma has always taken a major performance hit at those places...obvious when using triple screens - on high those turns are a slide show with a 290x (again triple screens) That was the track that first got me noticing some of the r3e performance issues.
I wrote this is the Shanghai thread, but only change the car reflection setting to medium and see how that is. I too dropped from a solid 60fps to high 40s after the update. changed reflections to medium from high and now back to pinned at 60fps.
I mentioned this alot but bears repeating i this thread....track level of detail made a massive difference on sonoma. High = slideshow, medium = playable, at least in the offending turns.
