We are moving soon, and I will finally have the space for a true sim rig! I've already got 3x40" monitors with 2 being new waiting to be set up at the new place.

The problem with those big old monitors is mounting. No way I'm spending $700 for a mount, so it was either PVC (maybe down the road, I wont have the patience when first getting setup) or true budget setup...

3 end tables. 2 identical for the sides and one wider one for the middle to allow pedal mount and my legs from GTR frame and seat. Seems like it should work ok to start with, maybe add some bracing to connect all 3.

Anyone doing something similar? I like the fact that I don't need VESA mounts....grand total spend on mounting is $55.

I'll report back once it's fully setup in a few weeks.

At least being slow will be more immersive now!

Hi mate, I'm doing something similar as a stop gap while I re-do my games room.
I've just added 2 more 40" LEDs to my rig and new PC arrived this week.
What I did was use the corner of the room, have 2 free standing shelving units for side screens and bolted a board between the two to make a base for the centre screen. Cost me about £60 in total and 20 minutes to make.
Works a treat, lets me move the screens as I like as I've kept them on their normal stands for now.

@museumsteve that's fantastic - makes me feel dumb to not have thought of the center board, great solution - I may use that instead of the 3rd table i ordered! Thanks for posting.

by next week I should have the basics set up - as in a working sim rig at least. I'll post back once it's all set up.

Ok fellas here's the initial prototype. Still tons to do. But got the basics set up and fired up r3e in 1080x5760 last night.

Holy mother of goodness!! When I the race started I just started laughing. Was not expecting such a huge difference in realism. To make a long story short, it's good. Much tweaking to do.

The end tables are fine. They do the job but I'll be looking to augment them with a panel over top to solidify.

Rear speakers are not working so I just ordered a cheap soundcard. But still.....wow!

So rear speakers now work. No idea why. Jumped the gun on the sound card. Normally I'd spend two days tweaking to get it working, but not this time....oh well maybe can use for simvibe later on.

Here's a slightly better pic....cable mangagement is big in my future.....

Trak racer, Aussie firm I believe, 2" tubular stand, built like proverbial brick s**thouse, takes up to 42" monitors. £140 inc delivery!
No brainer, new improved model out apparently!

I went ahead and built this for $35 in lumber.

    Parts needed....
    1 sheet 3/4" plywood
2 8' 2x4 studs (or 3 if you want to brace)
    16 2" wood screws
    couple cans paint
Furniture feet (I used Velcro tape)

    Thanks @museumsteve for the inspiration.

Maybe next year well get the proper mount but this will work well I think. Sturdy once placed on floor.

If you happen to live in Australia or England, no doubt.
I had this stand in mind too.
But Trak racer did not ship to Belgium and directed me to a branch in the UK. They charged THREE times the price of the item just for shipping !!!
So I got me one from RSeat.
