I'm sure that's where laser scanning comes into its own. Large tracks with complex topography like the Nordschleife and Spa will really benefit from this technique in terms of accuracy and presumably time saved.
im all for laserscanning but i wouldnt prioritize spa (even though its also possibly my favorite track)..its pretty smooth, not too many weird undulations going on there. sebring, nurburgring, bathurst, oultan park, those are the kinds of tracks i think of as 'essential' for a scan if there was such a thing.
I would say Eau Rouge is a pretty significant undulation! It's not just about the road surface but the topography of the track as a whole. Spa has quite a considerable range between the highest and lowest point so getting good data is quite important there.
I agree some what, but some tracks like you stated need it. When you've played a lot of racing sims/games, you can gauge what is acceptable and what is not, for example some of code masters F1 track layouts are awful and not really perceivable, as if they didn't do any research of the tracks at all, sure all the billboards are in the right place but the layout is cheaply done.
thats a good point, but i guess w/ eau rouge its more the typical real plus (for me) of laserscanning in that it leaves no doubt this is what the actual drivers face, same angles, elevation, width, etc. i suppose bc its been studied so much i take it as something of a given to be done properly even when not laserscanned, which is probably a mistake.
Ah well, looks like I will be waiting a while to get my hands on ow in this title. Will just have to dabble with the odd tin top here and there to get my eye candy fix of these sweet tracks
DTM content would be best for you as these cars feel very similar to an open-wheeler. Very nimble, lots of aero, lots of grip, DRS.
Just for the record: Generally I have nothing against Laserscanning, I just like to differ between obsessive "Must-have-at-all-cost-bro !" and the practical application of an advanced technology (if possible).
I did actually lash out and get the 2014 dtm out of curiosity and it is pretty cool, but have not had a go in a couple of months, still hungry for ow cars.
I think thats not gonna happen before the end of fanatec competition, because that update will change the physics of GT2 class.
The update usually comes midweek, so be patient, you will get your CTS soon. Also since most probably this update will contain other updates and fixes as well, i think they will only bring it alive when all the contents are rdy to release.
Assetto Corsa`s "Dream Pack" is due on the 11th, so maybe there will be something from S3 to compete?
