    Esports WTCR 2020 starts now!

Challenge the best simracers in the world and compete in the original FIA WTCR cars on five authentic race tracks!

Participation is free! You do not need to own any cars or tracks in order to drive. And it pays off to compete! A total of 10.000 € prize money will be paid out in the Esports WTCR 2020!

Qualify for the multiplayer races (held on Sunday evenings) on the leaderboard competitions by finishing in the top 96! The top 24 drivers will drive in the live streamed top split, and 4 servers total will be hosted per round, so you can compete against other drivers of your skill level.

    Join the competition: http://game.raceroom.com/championships/61

The multiplayer races are open for players from Europe (including Russia and Turkey), Middle East, Africa and America. For players in Asia and Oceania, a separate season with dedicated servers in Asia will be held, to guarantee a smooth online racing experience. Details will follow soon!

The WTCR 2020 cars will be added to the RaceRoom Store later this year, once they have received further refinements!

Balance of performance weight for the multiplayer races:

We consultated a group of 6 drivers, representing 6 major teams, to determine the weights, who more or less agreed on this solution.

Strong grid for the Esports WTCR Opener

On Sunday, 18. October, directly after the FIA WTCR races at Hungaroring, the Esports WTCR will start its season on the same track. The virtual championship, hosted on RaceRoom, the racing simulation for PC, will feature a calendar of five tracks throughout Europe, with three races per round. 4782 drivers from 92 countries tried to secure a place on the grid, but only 24 drivers managed to secure a place in the live streamed top server. With the top drivers split among 6 manufacturers, an exciting opening round is coming up.

2018 champion Bencé Banki (Red Bull Racing Esports) was fastest in pre-qualifying and heads the Lynk & Co line-up, switching after 2 ½ years of driving for Honda. He will be joined by Gianmarco Fiduci (Absolute Motorsport), Mark Balazsin (Independent), Bruno Fernandes (Snow Schatten Esports), who has won the official E-Stock Car Brasil series, as well as the Turismo Nacional series twice in South America, and last year’s Esports finalist Kirill Antonov (LADA Sport ROSNEFT eRacing).

Honda has compensated for the loss of Bánki with a strong 4-car-line up. Argentine talent Juan Manuel Gomez (Independent) will try to follow the footsteps of Girolami and Guerrieri, while Florian Hasse (EURONICS Gaming) has plenty of titles and race wins on RaceRoom and other racing simulations. Leandro Werle (Snow Schatten Esports) and Dávid Tóth (Independent) are in the other two Honda Civic Type-R TCR.

Gergo Baldi (M1RA Esports), the winner of the “Beat the WTCR drivers” season held in Spring, will once again drive for Hyundai, alongside his teammate Attila Bucsi, Attila Diner (eRC by FSP | TÜV Rheinland) and routineer Norbert Leitner (HM Engineering), who won 2 races in the inaugural Esports WTCC season in 2017.

Compared to the “Beat the WTCR drivers” season, Hyundai lost two of their front-running drivers to Audi though. Nikodem Wisniewski (Williams Esports), winner of the prestigious Le Mans Virtual, and Dávid Nagy (M1RA Esports) will lead the strong line-up of the German manufacturer, where they will be joined by Zoltan Csuti, Bence Zsupanek (both M1RA Esports) and Martin Barna (Triple A Esports).

One of the biggest pre-season surprises was Alfa Romeo, who will feature a strong all-German line-up. Simracing superstar Moritz Löhner (Williams Esports), who is the reigning ADAC GT Masters Esports champion as well as runner-up in the “Beat the WTCR drivers” season, made the surprise move to the Romeo Ferraris-built car, alongside Julian Kunze (EURONICS Gaming), who won the Esports WTCR LAN Event at the Nürburgring in 2018.

Finally, CUPRA will bring a new car, the CUPRA Leon Competición, to the virtual series as well. The ever-improving Adam Pinczes (Triple A Esports) and Tim Jarschel (EURONICS Gaming), the only driver to win two races in one event in Esports WTCR history, will be joined by Krisztián Juhász (Independent) and Italian Alessandro Ottaviani (Virtualdrivers by TX3).

As usual, the Esports WTCR will feature 4 grids total. Timea Bencsik (Ballas Racing Team), the fastest female simracer, will compete in server 2, while Russian Sergey Mukimov, who steers his virtual race car with the mouse instead of a steering wheel, will be in server 4.

The opening round at Hungaroring will be streamed live on the FIA WTCR Facebook page, this Sunday at 19:00 CEST (17:00 GMT), as well as on the Twitch and YouTube channel of RaceRoom, with English commentary by James Kirk and Robert Wiesenmüller. This season, there will also be a German stream, commentated by Thomas Bienert.
