so if any of you V2 owners can tell me is it a good choice ? (besides the huge impact on my wallet) what are you impressions: quality ? performance? durability? loud fans - excessive heat ? sophisticated or are there some things you hate about the V2 ? i want to use my momo mod30 with it so i will have to use the universal hub as i found out it is only available as the xbox one universal hub nowadays one of the things i don't like with the hub is that i will always have to start in xbox one mode i had this with my Fanatec GT2 wheel too and it is a pain to get it into PC mode with W10 google doesn't give a hint if fanatec wants to bring a V3 in the near future maybe i should wait for a new version of the base ? what do you think ? thank you very much
Hy mate, I use this piece of engineering for 1.5 years now: quality ? => very well designed & fabricated performance? => if you don't plan to go for a direct drive wheel this is the way to go durability? => hours of extensive use without loss of power etc. loud fans - excessive heat ? => normal. The engine sound of your car is louder sophisticated or are there some things you hate about the V2 ? => I had to send my base to fanatec for 2 times because of mechanical noise and a software problem within the first month. This process however was flawless and all problems were fixed. No more problems after that.
I totally agree with Sander van Dorn. I am using the wheel since October 2015, 2-3 h daily crazy lol So far I had no problems with the hardware and I don't regret spending so much money. Before I never had a wheel nor I knew that something like that exist ^^. I think the CSW V2 is the last step before a direct drive wheel.
Same for me here. Owner of the CSW V2 from 2nd batch (December 2014), still very happy with it and no issues despite hours of racing. For comparaison I burned 3 motors motors in the CSR and CSR-Elite in half the time My only downside will be that I need to use the little screw on the QR system, otherwise the QR is noisy (no play on the wheel, only a disturbing metalic noise). And as I have 4 wheels that I switch very often, sometimes I wish I hadn't to unscrew/screw it. At this time I can only see a good Direct Drive wheel for upgrade, but I'm not in a hurry for this as the CSW V2 really give me what I expect from this kind of Hardware (wasn't the case for CSR and CSR-elite before...)
Agree here too. My base is from the first batch May 2014. I had a little trouble with noisy fans, which started whisteling after some 100 h of use. It went to service threetimes. That's been a bit annoying, but all was settled quick and free within warranty. Finally it was solved with a new pcba and a new batch of fans. All bases from past May 2016 should be equiped with these. Since then I had no issues but pure fun, same with cs pedals v3 and cs shifter 1.5.. It's in use for more than 1000 h now. Settings can be done easyly. Driver and firmware get updated regularly and it works perfectly in RR. Use of Fanaleds is suggested. So I recommend with 100 % belief. Btw, where's the info about a base v3 from?
well google gave me absolutely nothing about v3 base in the future ! thank you all for your input, i think i will drop the bomb on a v2 then yikes ... how am i going to explain this to my wife
new shoes, new bag, suggest to look for a ring as well (women like rings....), a romantic dinner and probably a VIP season ticket in the best SPA around will do the trick... and the most important is style and timing.... if you just throw everything on the couch and shout out a "hi honey, i brought a couple of thing for you" from your mancave while you are mounting the new wheel on your rig....not sure thats gonna work.... give some time...and i would not mention the wheel (and especially the price...) before the romantic dinner/ring session.... good luck!
This is even before 1st batch .. This is testing unit. CSW V2 came out during fall 2014 Nothing about the high end .. or at least we have no info at all. Next Fanatec release will be for a 100% PS4 compatible base (in the range of the CSL I think), and the replacement of the low end offer (Porsche/CSR wheel). Maybe will se hear something about some Direct-drive base, but I doubt we will have it before next year (at best end of this year)
Sorry, you are right! Time is running, I'm getting old and memories fade. Ordered in Oktober 2014 and delivered in February 2015. Sorry again! But, more than 40 days within two years! OMG
scary, isn't ? Seems that since mine past it 2 years in December I hear strange noises coming from it I never heard. Like your car during the last lap of a long race you're about to win ... PS: funny: I ordered mine (early) octobre as well, but got it mid-december.
would you be so kind and share your V2 on wheel settings and ingame raceroom settings with me ? this would give me a headstart for sure ! thanks in advance mike
Just to offer a possible alternate, this wheel has gotten good reviews and feedback and priced a bit lower. www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B0/ts-pc-racer-thrustmaster-s-ultimate-racing-simulator-pc As for Fanatec gear ~ I have the CSP v3 after owning v1 for over 5 yrs together with CSS SQ+ and they are both solidly built and excellent performance. I do like that TM wheel though !
thanks for sharing settings ! well I wanted to use a real wheel from momo so i guess i have to take the fanatec route with the universal hub
thanks for all your input ! on the track already ! same mounting holes , what a good idea ! feels very good, but man, i have to get used to it . my times are nowhere i was with the old porsche GT2 or it was just late or it is because i was checking the clipping app all the time to set the audi tt right
Laptimes will get better, as soon you get used to your new wheel. Has your rim got an alcantara coat? I'd recommend wearing gloves. Otherwise it will get a little fatty.
