Game server / dedicated server question

I am sorry, if this is the wrong subforum, I didn't find a real auitale one

What can you guys recommend to use as a game server / dedicated server to run a league? I cannot use a second PC at home, as my internet line is too weak, so I'd need to rent something. What do I need to look for? What is the "cheapest", yet reliable way to get a game server / dedicated server? Any advice is very very welcome

 

Not sure of what the requirements of a R3E dedicated server are, but something like Digital Ocean might be an option...?

 

Thanks Martin! That is exactly my propblem as well - I have no idea what the requirements are. Is 1GB RAM enough as the dedi server just forwards position data or does it need 8GB RAM as it deploys skins, tracks or whatsoever? I fear it will be a matter or trial and error

 

Can the dedicated server run on Linux?
EDIT: Maybe if you want, I can run a Windows virtual machine on my computer. And we test it by allocating a specific amount of RAM?
I normally have a good internet connection

 

As far as I know, it needs to run on Windows. Such a test would be great! I am still on vacation till the end of next week though
