Yeah, from a musicians POV many of these songs branded as "Metal" are just simple popsongs (in parts what we call "Kirmes Rock" in Germany) cast into (Metal-) shape with some typical (cliché-) riffs, up tempo beats and some savage lookin' Tatoo guys ('n dolls)..plus a pinch of "gothic pathos"(Tbh) Well, like Sex it sells
Yeah, but it's ok, I can listen these types of songs as well, for example while I'm working or doing someting boring/repetitive or while travelling, but I find it a bit strange when someone labels these bands their favorite or the best ever.
Best way for me to describe this Genius : Imagine Zappa, Prince & Freddy Mercury had a child together Not only is he singing all chorus lines and playing most of the instruments by himself ( except for All Night long), no he also has it all (re-)written and re-arranged plus video editing - the guy is not from this planet...
I saw Dream Theater live on Tuesday and the attendance was surprisingly low. Not sure if it is the effect of the pandemic or the high ticket prices, but I think the experience was worth every penny, they are still incredible musicians.
