Question for folks: In the series that are on the latest physics/tire models that have multiple tire compounds available, what are the scenarios where one would ever use the hard tires?

Thus far I've found that the lap time gap between soft and hard is massive and that hard tires don't run any cooler, so I always use softs. What kind of race scenarios should I construct where it makes sense to change compounds?

Note that the focus of my question really is around my own single-player racing as opposed to a complaint--I assume Alex & Co. know how their tires work, LOL. :)

Longer races. Work out how long a pitstop takes versus the lap time difference over compared to softs over race distance.
Sometimes taking the hards means no pitstop required and being fast enough to hold off the soft runners after they stop.
    The strategy gamble is fun.
