IRL the last lap counts in case it is started before the time has expired. Twice now I have experienced doing a great last lap and seen my own ghost well behind me but when I finish the competition has ended and the lap time doesnt count. Some of you might think "Yeah right" but try it yourself and see. Are there any plans of changing this to follow the real racing world and count all laps that are started before the competition time has expired?
