I was watching the Le Mans qualifications, and in de GTE PRO class 4 Fords in the top 5, after getting a BoP bonus before the race.

Somehow it seems like the regulations decide who will be fast.

How is this BoP game played? Where do the manufacturers pay?

Seems that ford did play well their game.

The new GT is a pure race car, with a street legal homologation directly derived from the race car. In opposite of the other opponent who make races car from street legal version.
And it's the only GTE fully optimized for the latest regulation. Porsche, Ferrari, Aston are all based on older model that were optimized for the old regulation.
This is a huge advantage.. and it seems that they masked their real performance level during the previous races (Silverstone, ..) to not be the target of a BoP malus from the ACO.

Reminds me a lot the late 90's GT1 used to be: Merco CLK-GTR, Porsche 911 GT1, etc

Can the ACO still play with the BoP for them or the other manufacturers before the race? Guess not, right?

It seems not... The only thing I found about that is a rule, that the manufacturer can get a penalty if they deliver incorrect data for the BoP. If they get a penalty before or during a race they'll get a Stop-and-Go-Penalty with a minimum of 5min Stopping-Time. That must be solved before the last 30min of a race.

I see. Let's see what happens.
Even if the have a favourable BoP there's still one thing to be seen, it is to see if they have the reliability. :p

I found now through DSC that the ACO Sporting Director said that "We can still change the BoP on Friday night if we want – of course it’s something we will look at". You can read the article here

Perhaps something can still be done about this..

hehe, you never know. The weather can have a big role this year. In the bad conditions yesterday the toyotas looked quite good.
Reliability is always an unknown factor - I guess that Porsche has a little advantage in that point as their car is an evolution of last years car.

Yep, Porsche might have a lead, but then again with that weather... :p
It should be an interesting race to watch, for sure ;)

Ferraris are also too fast (and not old cars, with the new Turbo engines).
Right now there are two classes: Ford & Ferrari, and then Porsche, Corvette, Aston.
Looks very much like they cheated.
Corvette just got a smaller restrictor few days ago. Why ?
This way it won't be much fun....

Can't understand that decission too. I hope they'll change the restrictor back to the previous - same for Aston. Well ok, Corvette did a mistake on Wednesday, that slows them down additionally, but during the testdays the Corvettes doesn't seem to be faster than the Ferrari or Ford.

They've adjusted the BoP, check here .
Quite some changes, but I guess it should make it more levelled.

Funny that Chevrolet doesn't have restrictors that are big enough to fit to the new BoP...
