    Hi,
This may well be a SteamVR issue, but I thought I'd ask here anyway, as I've possibly located the root of the problem in my SteamVR VRServer log file, and there may be someone with a fix out there.

Issue: Racing in SteamVR, screen flashes to the steamVR home screen (the grey one with the oculus sensor) for a second, before returning back to R3E - very distracting while driving.

I've been going through various log files, and I came across this in "vrserver.txt":

    Code:
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:02:32.346 - oculus: WaitableTimer slept too long/short (i.e. 2.110917 ms)
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:02:32.366 - oculus: WaitableTimer slept too long/short (i.e. 9.420853 ms)
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:02:53.224 - Setting app steam.app.211500 PID to 6880
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:03:01.218 - oculus: WaitableTimer slept too long/short (i.e. 2.178270 ms)
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:03:01.224 - oculus: WaitableTimer slept too long/short (i.e. 2.348733 ms)
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:03:01.303 - oculus: WaitableTimer slept too long/short (i.e. 13.980802 ms)
    Sat Apr 01 2017 12:03:05.268 - New Connect message from I:\Steam SSD 2\steamapps\common\raceroom racing experience\Game\RRRE.exe (VRApplication_Scene) (Args: -vr 1.2) 6880
It looks to be a timeout issue, but I'm not sure what the root of it is, SteamVR or R3E. (No timeouts in AC, PCars, DCS etc.)
I've disabled all power saving in SteamVR, power settings through the control panel and through device manager, to no avail.

Any help would be most appreciated!

got the same issue it is realy annoying 2 the point where you even dont wanna start r3e anymore. In hotlap/challenge mode it occurs not so often, but if you start a race against other people or even ai it realy happens much 2 often (nvidia 1070 btw).

I found a post about this very issue on the IL-2 boards VR thread. A fix posted there (post #383) has got rid of the issue for me, and has therefore made R3E playable again!

*NOTE* I didn't delete the contents of the file mentioned, I added in only the ""forceFadeOnBadTracking": false" line.

Just in case the pic fails:

I really hope this helps anyone with this issue. @Xorak

This did not help me in another Sim which is affected, RRE strangely is not, it's a very intermittent bug and an annoying one to say the least!

I had to change my values to what this guy had under "mirrorViewGeometry"
or else the added "force fade on bad tracking" gets eraised for me.

But putting in exactly what he got seems to work for me!
I only had time for a few laps, but didn't get the grey out once.
Will do some more testing tomorrow for a final conclusion.
Thanks a lot for this @Exiled Scotsman
Even if it won't work 100%, it might help the devs to narrow the bug down, and find a fix for it.. :)

No problem mate, props to the guy on the other board seeing as it's his fix, I just found the post ;).
I think we all need to report this to both Steam and S3.

I have already added this to my original bug report of the issue.
And I think S3 will pass this forward to valve/steam.

This do help against the grey outs for me! :)
I still get occasional distortions instead of the grey outs though, but they are not as disturbing as the grey outs.

Got here before I did, it seems like a slight jump in tracking instead of a grey-out. It's still much less distracting though, so I don't mind :D.
