Hmm, which probably down clocks the ram and increases the fan speed

Unless this new bios can create and attach thermal pads to connect the ram chips to the heatsink

Guess not. got more bad news....seems like my i5 cpu is going to be a bottle neck and to get the full benefit I need a better cpu...and my mother board does not have sockets for the latest cpu s...lol...ffs...why it's always so complicated!

Bottlenecks aren't that bad....just usually means you have something newer, faster than the old. Will always be that if you modular build cpu over time.

I would buy anything expensive from and amazon authorized seller or amazon proper (they are just too good of a company to deal with if sht goes wrong). I would assume the same would be in the Europe? Might cost a bit more, but the safety is big for me on large purchases.

I can highly recommend the Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 Amp! Extreme Edition 8GB, if your case can take it. Matches most of the 1070s out there for performance and cooling, but generally priced better and with a 5yr warranty which none of the others offer... It's a big card though, so make sure you have room :)

running i5-3570K with a 1080, although 1070 could have been good enough for my games so far. Main motivation is to render games with downsampling. Think of it this way, if CPU is really a limiter, you can increase resolution/AA/shaderdetails/textures etc. for free. And 4k downsampled to 1080p is still reasonable amount of GPU work for a lot of games at no CPU cost ;)

be aware this overview runs only at 720p to enforce CPU bottleneck, but it's questionable how much that affects actual fps

click "gaming" in the benchmarks options, that actually "reduces" the benefits ;) further

if you still want a new CPU can always upgrade later, wait and see how AMD's new CPUs do, it may affect pricing.

Nope, that's the standard version, Then there's the Golden Shower version (or whatever it's called) and the Goes Like Hell edition. GLH has very good overall performance but, at least here in Germany, is out of stock atm. The Golden Sample one is available tho and below 500, 460 here in Germany: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_...lden-Sample-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--_1094869.html

    OK....so slightly change of plans......

I can't find and GTX 980 or 980 Ti anywhere at a decent price, you'll find one here and there and pricey!......the GTX 1070 is not cheap either, you're looking at over 500 EUR...and my gaming PC is 6 years old.....so putting that in a 6 year old thing, I don't know...I wont get the full power out of it and I don't even have triple screens!

So I decided to go for one of these GTX 1060 6G:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_Gaming_X/
    or this
    https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_1060_Xtreme_Gaming/

These are EUR 350 from here, so its not bad

They are not as good as the GTX 980 or 980 Ti, but surely much better that the ATI HD 7970 I had. I don't have any triple screens, but an old crappy monitor so I should be able to play most games on high settings.

Then I would say in about 2 or 3 years, I'll change the whole lot...

Thanks all for your input ;)

At least by 1 lap or two. ;)
Sounds like a reasonable plan, good luck.

but you know how wives and daughters are.....very demanding creatures!

So little update! So far so good! Got the MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X........then when I went home I released that the monitor was soooo old I didnt even have HDMI so I had to go back and got a cheap 22 inch Asus monitor lol

rFactor 2 full details and all max with 20 AI FPS over 80 most times..will be testing RRE soon (after I make some food to my child)..but the strange thing is that Nvidea did not find RR3!!??

Forget about Nvidia Geforce experience. It doesn't detecte lots of game (R3E or AMS wont be in).

Your monitor didn't had DVI input ?

R3E graphics settings full with some 20 AI over 100 FPS, not bad I guess

AC, mostly High and Ultra settings and 20 AI at Spa, could not go over 80 FPS.
