is it possible to force the use of manual stick shifting.
I really want to drive the M4 GT4 with a stick.
Just for the fun of it.

@rd.king If you have a shifter try changing your control assignments to shifter only and not any paddles. Change the transmission to manual with clutch and see if it works
I can confirm it does not work. I just tried it and no gears are selectable with Manual shifter

You can't do it. Cars with sequential paddle shift have fundamentally different gearboxes. You could use a hand operated sequential stick (like in a modern touring car) if you want although you still would not need to declutch.

it wasn't that far back that you could shift any car in RR anyway you wanted
    fundamentally different gearboxes or not.
As it stands now the older so called manual gearboxes in this game do not need to declutch as you say.
they call it by design, some of us call it broken.
I was hoping there was a way to choose an alternate shift style for the fun of it.

Not sure which manual cars you mean but with the transmission damage if you don't use the clutch when downshifting you will break the gearbox very quickly. Dtm92, touring classics, fjr, Porsche 934 all have up to date gearbox logic.
